Eh, freeing someone from oppression is freeing someone from oppression, in my opinion. Besides, keeping in mind that Bruce tends to limit himself primarily to Gotham on cases of this scale, are there really any bastions of honest-to-God slavery in America anymore? It was a lot more practical for Huck Finn to free slaves than it is for Batman right from the start.

Well no one doubts the complicated negative sociatal implications of such acts as international prostitution. However, and perhaps my knowledge on batman is more limited, but I think it is then required to establish whether Batman helped to rescue prostitues by chosen profession or not. Note - I acknowledge the possiblities that some prostitutes who supposedly choose their profession are theoretically forced into it by sociatal, political and contextual structures but this holds true for indentured servants as well or any other profession of servitude.

Yeah, but we're talking about chicks who are shipped over from other countries, raped, forced Heroine so they have to work as prostitutes to feed their addictions. Haven't you seen Eastern Promises at least? If that ain't slavery I don't know what is.

Batman has interacted with "regular" prostitutes before. He did that at least once in Morrison's run.

He tried to talk them out of it but he realizes it's just a waste of time. Then again he was really beat up in the issue I read. Maybe he'd be more strict with them in prime condition.
