Just a general thread for the story I guess.

From everything heard about this I bought it expecting something great but frankly it was kind of underwhelming. I LOVE the art but story is pretty lacking, it's basically just a chase sequence stretched out over the length of a tpb. It doesn't really delve into the futuristic world it inhabits nor characters themselves which seems a waste of potential because the set-up is all pretty interesting itself.

To anyone who's read this, I'd like to get your thoughts on the identity of Batman here. It's set a hundred years after he first appeared in 1939 and the characters themselves state that's it weird he's still active after all these years. But by the end we have no clue whether it's the original Bruce Wayne or a sidekick taken up the mantle. This annoyed me a great deal: I was waiting for some pay-off but it never happened.

General thoughts/ opinions?

Agreed.
I've liked Pope's work elsewhere so this was a real bummer.
There really was no use of the futuristic setting, and the whole set-up for "who is the batman?" is completely ignored, instead we get some kinda corny 'virus' type story. It could have taken place in general batman 'present' continuity and been okay, but as it is, its a bit of a downer.
I have no idea if DC editorial planned it this way so that they'd have room for a sequel if the miniseries got really popular?
