Batman Year One The Animated Movie

Ugh. They kinda need to stop with these. I could hardly get through Under The Red Hood. The animation was tired years ago. Now, it's just a dead horse.

I did love Timm's comments though. Especially how "superhero movies don't need to be that realistic" and that one comment about BB.

Then why is he animating possibly the most realistic depiction of Batman in any media?

Realistic how?

And btw, I do think Mazzucelli's work in Year One would translate well to Timm's style. It's very lean in that sense. But I am tired of that whole Timm/Anime hybrid look to every DCU movie.

You don't think Year one is realistic? It is certainly more realistic than Nolan's films.

wow under the red hood was one of the best animated movies I have seen and the action was intense. Couldnt disagree more.

Oh yes. Of course. What I'm talking about is the look that all these DCU animated films have.

I couldn't make it past the 30 minute mark. I just don't like that hybrid-ish style. I know that's probably kinda silly.

But I will give it another go sometime.

Just watched Under the Red Hood today and loved it. Think it was the best DC animated film I've seen since Return of the Joker. Having said that, I do think the animation style was very uninspired. Anime/anime-influenced stuff is getting to be very old hat, and I wish they'd try something different. I thought Justice League: The New Frontier was a very disappointing movie, but at least it had an animation style that was refreshing and unique.

Also, I'm very much looking forward to this Year One movie.

Under the Red Hood was great to me!,I'll agree about the animation style not being all that great looking and I think the voice acting was just decent.....But I just loved the story&characters!.

Pretty interested in Year One!,I'll be keeping up to date much closer with this one.

I think it's different enough to be interesting, but I admit it has a touch of 'been there done that' to it. Ironically they were less redundant with something that actually ended up needing such consistency: Batman's voice. Blegh. Love Nightwing and Red Hood's casting though, and the new Joker is pretty cool.

But yeah, Batman's voice is my only major concern for Year One - that and I didn't care for Catwoman as an ex-****e or whatever in an otherwise excellent book.

That seems pretty crazy to me considering just last night I was watching a video interview with him about Year One where he was describing it as awesome and refreshing to him BECAUSE of how realistic and believable it is.

What did he say about Batman Begins exactly?

He pretty much says the same thing here, he loves it because it's like a "70's cop film" even though superhero films don't need to be that realistic, per se. He wasn't contradicting himself or anything.

What did he say about Batman Begins exactly?

He says he was asked "Why are you doing Year One, Batman Begins already did that" and he responded "Well no, they borrowed a little bit of Year One, but even so they had to kinda pump it up to make it a big summer movie".

I love Timm's work and I can't wait to see this animated Batman: Year One.

With the track record these DCAU films have had, I reckon it's going to be great.

It would be great if they keep the look and colours of the comic book in the film, that would make it pretty unique.

They promised that they would.

Well that's awesome.

Sorry for the short reply, but I don't have much more to say on it haha

All I knew about the film was that it was being made and coming out next year.

I do hope they have a good Batman voice lined up for this one. I AM pro Conroy for any damn thing but I feel like he did Mask Of The Phantasm, which recounted the BTAS origin, so to me he doesn't have to do this one.

I would actually really like to get Jeremy Sisto back for another round. That New Frontier animated Batman was cool excellent. I wish they gave THAT Batman his own feature length film or a cool mini series.

Can someone put a list up of all the actors who have voiced Batman since The Animated series please?

I was going to write them all up but I just got a bit lazy, so here's a link to all the versions and you can listen to each one if you want.

There's even a new one in there I hadn't heard of before going to this site.

EDIT:
Okay, I just listened to this latest Batman's voice, Jeeeeez haha

Haven't seen New Frontier but saw all the clips for the Batman scenes and I also thought that Batman was cool, reminded me of both the early Finger/Kane Batman of 1939-1940 and the Keaton/Burton Batman.

I'd like to see more of the animation for these DC films to be like New Frontier.

Batman voiced by Jeremy Sisto from New Frontier clips:

i think Misha Collins (plays the angel Castiel on Supernatural) would do an awesome Batman in an animated film. he's definately got the voice for it

It's nearly ******* JUNE. Where is a teaser, a trailer or a any damn NEWS?

There's definitely been news. Official cast new (Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad is Gordon, Ben McKenzie from Southland is Bruce Wayne/Batman, Eliza Dushku from Dollhouse is Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Katee Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica is Detective Sarah Essen, Alex Rocco from The Godfather is the Roman), pictures have been released:

As I posted on the other thread, Bruce Timm announced that Batman: Year One will be premiering at the San Diego Comic Con in July. Batman: Year One is scheduled to be released on September 27th.
