I just finished reading batman year two yesterday after a friend of mine found it in a flea market for a dollar in decent shape. If you havn't read it and you've read Frank Miller's year one, you may be dissapointed becuase Miller has no connection to it. In the story batman faces a figure known as the reaper who was at one point a vigilante in gotham before batman decided to do what he does best. He and batman have the same agenda except that the reaper kills criminals brutally. Also what caught my eye before reading was the cover, batman is holding a large hand gun. YES A HANDGUN........

I know the reason he used it becuase I read the book but I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it.

thoughts and comments on this incredibly wierd graphic novel would be appreciated.

I thoguht this was an awesome story. The only thing I wish they had done different is that Alan Davis draw all 4 issues.

yeah I forgot it was released in issues. I have the hard cover version.

The art work was awesome and the overall story was good. I didn't think that it was a worthy predessor to Year 1 and I didn't like who Batman teamed up with but I did enjoy reading it.

It was intended to fill some gaps for the post-crisis batman. Why does he not use a gun? What about the killer of his parents?

But it is all retconned :woot:

F--k continuity! A good story's a good story, theres no point trying to make sense of everything.

Man, I thought the story was pure garbage. The only worthwhile tidbit was almost finding love and having her become a nun.

Let's not overlook the obvious influence Year Two had on Mask of the Phantasm.

I absolutely adore Todd MacFarlane's artwork on Year Two, it's some of the best Batman ever. The story is decent but in no way of the standard of Year One.

Alan Davis is great.

I didn't like that there was a vigilante before Batman. Other than that the story was OK, the moral dilemma was handled nicely.

What about the sequel, Full Circle?
Once again the art was great (though I remember having some problem with the way Davis drew Robins eyes) but the story is nothing special.

Haven't read full circle yet so I don't know.

Batman:Year Two is one of my favorate stories.

I like how Alan Davis does Batman

Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern worked out of Gotham city as well so the reeper is not the only other vigilante before Batman.

And I thought full sircle was better writen.

I like how the Reaper says "FEAR THE REAPER" allll of the time.

And by "like", I mean I think it's ******ed

The art was pretty good, though.

I cant say that I think the story was garbage. Its definatly not my favorite of all time year one but it's still ok, and teaming up with one that id never in a million years think that hed team up with was kinda ****ed up. But him almost finding love or some form of happiness and having it all washed away stayed true to the tragic character that he is, and thats why I love the character.

I liked it, Alan Davis' slick art saved the first half and Todd McFarlane's early work looks crude in a gritty sort of way.

I dunno I think Davis should have just finished the book.

Is the hardcover or the new collection recoloured (like year one?). Because the coloring of the original issues is flat and bright. Full Circle on the other hand...

Okay story, stupid character. Also don't like the idea of a vigilante before Batman, and it should definetly NOT be 'Year Two'. Actually this even isn't part of my continuity, I'll take The Phantasm instead and TMWL is my year two.

Like I said earlyer Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern operated out of Gotham City before The Batman aswell so the Reeper in not the only other vigilante before the Batman.:gl: :batty:

See I never knew that, thanks for that info. and can anyone tell me a little bit about full circle?

Full Circle is about the Reaper returning to Gotham in the early days of Batman and Robin.
It turns out to be Joe Chill's son coming to get revenge on Batman

In full circle we see a flash back of the end fight between the Reeper and Batman we see that Joe Chills son was hiding in the background and from his point of view he thought it was Batman who shot his dad.So he puts on the Reeper suit to seek vengence on the Batman.
