Battle of the Bands 3

That's right, I'm picking up this interesting thread.

I am not going to have time limits, but every couple of days I'll start a new thread/battle. Enjoy! Today we look back at the precursors to glamrock. We're talking about two of the most influential bands ever from the same era...

Queen, all the way. No one can ever match the vocal's of Mercury's, nor the insane guitar of Brian May. The songwriting is impeccable, from the strange (Bicycle Race) to the seriously moving (Teo Torriate) to the funny (Fat Bottomed Girls). Two of the most perfectly crafted albums of the decade (Day At The Races, Night At The Opera), plus their last album Innuendo could've given Pink Floyd a run for their money on the prog rock scene.

And then, the live performances themselves are only rivaled by the likes of The Rolling Stones and The Who. Boisterous and unrivalved fun. Plus, apart of one of the greatest collaborations of all time, Under Pressure, with David Bowie.

I have been a Queen fan since I was ten years old. You could say I'm devoted.

I went with Queen as well. Bohemian Rhapsody, Fat Bottom Girls, Another One Bites the Dust, Somebody to Love, Don't Stop Me Now, Bicycle, Under Pressure, Who Wants to Live Forever, The Show Must Go On, Killer Queen and of course We Will Rock You and We are the Champions.

Truly amazing.

One can argue that Kiss is a one trick pony that has managed to stick around for 3 decades. I, for one, buy into that. These 2 shouldn't even be compared. Queen gets my vote.

Hm, I was hoping to get more response. Oh well. I have a handful of more battles thought out. So later I'll put up the next one. But I hope people keep commenting and start a discussion in this one as I am leaving the poll open. Queen obviously won this, though.

Queen, hands down. Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure, and Another One Bites The Dust are some of my favorite songs. They have alot of great classic songs that are still terrific to this day. KISS, on the other hand, never strike my fancy, so it's a no-brainer for me in this poll.

Yeah, I thought this would be closer. I always loved Queen as one of my favorite bands but I was under the impression that KISS was a beloved band that was bigger to some than Queen and since Simmons said some snide things about Queen (through Adam Lambert) a few weeks ago, I thought it'd be an interesting debate.

Turned out to be a landslide. C'est la vie.

This is a really tough one...both bands are incredibly amazing. I'm going to have to go with Queen though.
