I was actually going to post that pic here. I gotta admit Emma and Steve have the look down.
The cast is really shaping up nicely, in addition to Emma and Steve there is Elisabeth Shue, Andrea Riseborough, Alan Cumming and Sarah Silverman.

Emma has really been working out hard for the role and the paps have been snapping pics of her in workout clothes about every other day. For once I have to say good job to the paps, Emma looks freaking amazing, especially from a certain angle now...

Can't wait, between this and La La Land, it feels like Emma's career is finally getting the just rewards from her Oscar nomination.

P.S. :hmr:

The trailer looks great! Hopefully the Academy can get over themselves with the comedy and it can earn some noms

I was watching the U.S. Open for a while this morning and they showed BOTS TV spots numerous times.

Both the movie and Emma's performance are getting great reactions at Telluride.:woot:

This would be such an awesome Oscar season if both Emma and JLaw both got nominations.

She really looks like Aubrey Plaza in that last shot.

Still getting lots of TV spots at the U.S. Open today, which isn't exactly shocking.:yay:

First reactions from Telluride looking very good, here's a bunch that were posted at goldderby:

Battle of the Sexes First Reactions
Sasha Stone: Battle of the Sexes is absolutely brilliant start to finish. Career best for Emma Stone. Loved. Loved. Loved.
David Ehrlich: BATTLE OF THE SEXES so closely parallels the 2016 election you half expect the Russians to hack Billie Jean’s serve. shame about the ending.
Richard Lawson: BATTLE OF THE SEXES: Bright, rousing, intermittently hokey sports drama. Would watch two hours of Emma Stone and Andrea Riseborough flirting
Kristopher Tapley: “Battle of the Sexes” is good! More emotional than expected.
Scott Menzel: Battle of the Sexes is the feel good female empowerment films we need right now. Emma Stone congrats on another Oscar nomination
Alicia Malone: BATTLE OF THE SEXES: made my heart sour & my eyes brim with tears. A feel good true story you wouldn’t believe if it weren’t true
J Don Birnam: Battle of the Sexes will win at TIFF and if submitted for Comedy at Globes, there too. Must see. Emma fantastic
Tomris Laffly: Moved/inspired beyond words by Battle of the Sexes. Instant winner! Equal rights/equal pay for women! Love is love! Woo hoo!
Scott Feinberg: BATTLES OF THE SEXES is a battle of fine performances by Emma Stone and Steve Carell, in a film that’s timely, entertaining and moving.
Gregory Ellwood: Battle of the Sexes first two acts are really disappointing last act and ending are great.
Mara Reinstein: BATTLE OF THE SEXES: wonderful, compelling. I have heart of stone and I was v emotional at the end. Yeah girls. Yeah Billy Jean!

looks like a lot of fun.

Awesome. Seems Emma really is a candidate for Oscar Nomination again.

Emma's on fire at the moment.

"just" 75% on RT.
It was expectable I think, because gender gets critics always.

Up to 88% on RT now.

Here's a few new stills.

and a pic of Emma with one of her pals...

We thinking possible Oscar nod for Stone?

The sentiment, and reviews, are saying this is a career best performance, but this year is unbelievably tough in the best actress category.
Like many others I think in virtually any other year she'd be a lock for a nomination, but this year she's probably 50\50.
In any event there's no chance of a win, as I mentioned this year is very deep in that category and there have only been 2 back to back best actress winners in the history of the Oscars, with the last time being 50 years ago (Luise Rainer 1936 and 37, Katharine Hepburn 1967 and 68, although the 2nd one was actually a tie between Hepburn and Streisand who both got the award.

This was a very satisfying movie. It's not a masterpiece, and I do think if they had shot it in 2017 instead of 2016, they would have come down much harder on Bobby Riggs' nasty strain of sexism (it focuses more on Billy Jean's boss who represents institutional sexism, but even if Bobby Riggs is aware it's hyperbole, he's still like Donald Trump in how he stirs up millions of misogynists and gives them permission).

Even so, it is a very easygoing and entertaining biopic with a really satisfying ending. And the acting is all great. Carell is great, Stone is really great, and the actress who plays Billy Jean's lover is fantastic. Her name escapes me but she deserves more credit.

Solid 8/10 movie that feels very good in these dark times.

Recently, Billie Jean King came to my job for an interview to promote this movie. While I was running mics for the next show, she was departing while Micheal Peña was arriving. I was watching their interaction through the outside glass door window, and it was cute. Then as they finished, Billie Jean looked at me through the door, waved at me, then blew me a kiss. I was shaking then and I after watching this biopic, I will treasure that blown kiss for the rest of my life.

I'm not defending Bobby Riggs, but Trump is not just being hyperbolic and ironic. He really is a genuine chauvinist.
