Transformers Bay says test screenings receive highest scores eva!!!!!!

Well he wasn't gonna say the test screenings sunk, either way let the hate pour forth:csad:

Well yeah, the guy directed the damn thing, of course he's going to post vague but super-positive things like that. It could have been a biased Bay-crowd. Or he could be talking about several drunk morons who gave it a hundred. When it comes to test screenings, I'd rather hear from the people than the director giving himself an ego-bj.

Highest test screen score for a Micheal Bay movie?

That doesn't say much.

I'm wondering if this was a controlled/industry 850 people, or average people 850 people.

either way, if you really think about it...850 people is a lot of people. now wether or not he was lying or exaggerating is a different story...

Michael Bay also said that the Transformers trailer had more hits then the Spider-Man 3 trailer completely ignoring the fact that the Spider-Man 3 trailer showed up on Ifilm WEEKS before it showed up on yahoo. I trust Michael Bay as far as I can throw that asshat.

Had it have been someone else saying that i woiuld believe them but for the director of a film to say that his/ her film got a 92 (92 what? %?) i take it with a pince of salt.

And i don't give a flying fart who the director is, be it Bay or Tarintino, i still don't trust their comments on that

Wait... you mean there are actually people biased TOWARD his movies? :wow: God help us all.

at least they tested it iwith general l people not family :o

92 what? A little more than 92 ppl out of 850 actaully like it? :o:

I've heard a lot of things about this test screenings. That the screeners will sometimes discard negative comment cards (if that's how they do it; I"ve never been to one myself). Lets just hope enough people wrote "keep the faceplate on Optimus at all times"

but if they wouldnt want to hear anything negative then wouldnt it make more sense to not have test screenings?

Did any of you actually read what he said? He said it was his highest score. Assuming Armageddon was a 92/100 that means it is anywhere from a 93-100. Now I highly doubt the film got a 100 but I'm willing to bet it did pretty well.

Regardless of a lot of the gripes on message boards, etc, the movie probably has pretty satisfying setpieces.

Films like that (Independence Day, etc) will generally get better test scores because most of the immediate audience reactions will be "WOW that was GREAT!" Whereas many other things, such as horror films, will test low because the feeling of "Ugh" the audience gets, which actually means the picture works on the level it's trying to achieve.

Exactly, those score cards or whatever were filled out while the audience was still on a buzz. The film blew them away.

Nobody is expect The Lord of the Rings here but it sure will leave you dazed and confused for a while.

Keep in mind he said "it did better than Armageddon, which got a 92". Now I don't know much about movie history, but if Armageddon gets 92 what does that make a film like TheDeparted ...maybe that go 50 million or something.

Of course I'm being facetious. This is very typical for Bay (who as DL points out likes ego-bjs) and for the movie industry as a whole. Test screenings aren't going to go poorly, they are done to create good buzz for a film in the first place. This isn't like some scientific study to gauge an honest reaction to the film.

Some more details...

"As the July 4 release date approaches and the film nears completion, producers of "Transformers" unveiled it to a public. News of a test screening of the film revealed some details about the final cut from producer Tom DeSanto.

"[It tested] higher than any other of Michael [Bay]'s movies," said DeSanto. "It's good, everybody's excited. It's a great time right now because in a summer of sequels, we're going to be bringing something new to the table."

Nobody said they had to change the ending, which is good. "It's one ending. It's one story. It's a beginning, middle and end. The ending works. It's great too because yeah, there's going to be giant robots but there's romance in there and Shia has a real emotional storyline that at the end, you're really rooting for him."

DeSanto confirmed star LaBeouf's estimate that the film had 20 set pieces. "I would say he's probably right on target. You know when you go to Six Flags and there's the new roller coaster that outdoes every other roller coaster? That's going to be 'Transformers.' We're doing things, and the fun this is it hasn't been done before. It's all new stuff."

The running time even came in shorter than previous estimates. "The picture was just about two [hours].""

even if it got a high score it doesn't say much. he said that armageddon got high score, yet that movie sucked.
maybe it even is a good movie, but it is a shame that he changed so much.

I liked Armageddon. Bays movies, to me, are of better quality than movies like The Mummy Returns, Aliens vs Predator, Charlie's Angels, etc. Bay's movies are fun movies that I set my brain aside to watch and I am usually smiling at some point during the movie. This movie will deliver in that aspect. I'll just have to set aside my fanboy side...maybe I'll smother him.
