Adrian Lyne Deep Water Ana de Armas, Ben Affleck Patricia Highsmith novel – Deadline

Pic is an erotic thriller, right in the wheelhouse Lyne established with such blockbusters Indecent Proposal, Fatal Attraction, and 9 1/2 Weeks. The filmmaker has long been intrigued with this one, first setting it up with Fox 2000 back in 2013. New Regency bought control of the property last year, and this gives them another plum project to go with the James Gray-directed Ad Astra with Brad Pitt, and the Robert Eggers-directed The Lighthouse.

Affleck and de Armas are in talks to play Vic and Melinda Van Allen, an attractive young married couple whose mind games with each other take a twisted turn when people around them start turning up dead. The couple staves off divorce in a loveless marriage by allowing each to take lovers, but it becomes messy as Highsmith exposed the surface facade of American suburban life.

The Game meets Eyes Wide Shut, is what I want this to be.

Another movie with Affleck and an unstable wife? He must love attaching himself to these movies.

Can you imagine having an erotic thriller with Ana de Armas and never releasing it? That should be a crime.

This sounds like its another "Live by night" in the waiting

An erotic thriller with Ana de Armas, you say?

Should've released this around Valentine's Day as a twisted type of date movie

What an odd trailer and I know it'll be terrible since they ditched the theatrical release but still gonna check it out

There's something weird about that trailer that I can't quite put my finger on, but it appears Affleck can! :rimshot: every piece of dialogue just lends itself so perfectly to someone manipping a JLo thought bubble above Affleck's head.

Between this and that Marilyn Monroe movie, looks like Ana is going for some hot roles…:hrt:

It’s very possible this won’t be good, but I don’t think it going to streaming is enough of an indication. I just think Disney doesn’t know or care about making anything out of Fox’s projects.

I mean, they were barely able to make a splash with a well-received, Spielberg-directed remake of one of the most beloved screen musicals of all time. Of course an erotic thriller starring Ben Affleck would give them pause.

Maybe and this probably wouldn't have had much of an audience in theaters anyway. Pretty sure there was a theatrical clause in the merger contract though because I remember hearing that's why they didn't just dump New Mutants on streaming and they were considering putting Free Guy on streaming too but they couldn't.

Disney has been so shamelessly disinterested in promoting the movies they picked up in the deal. It would be funny if it weren't so terrible for the industry.
