I feel like I may be the only person in the world that actually didn't hate the directors cut of Daredevil, or Affleck's performance in the film in general.

No, you're not. The theatrical cut was flawed but enjoyable...the Director's cut was great....and Affleck did a darn fine job in the role. That is my opinion, I don't expect everyone to agree with it...but I don't act most of the people who didn't like it and claim that my opinion is fact.

Also: Hulk. Dogs.
I give no ****s if they're from the comic. That doesn't mean you adapt everything single thing and throw it in a movie. You don't see people lining up for the Batman movie with Bat-mite, do you?

Haha, yeah. I roll my eyes whenever someone seriously suggests Mxyzptlk should appear in a Superman movie.

Josh Brolin was in Jonah Hex recently, an awful film, and fanboys loved that potential casting. Also in that awful comic book movie? Wes Bentley, another fanboy favorite.

But apparently Ben Affleck being in a mediocre comic book film a decade ago is worse... somehow...

Heh, I forgot Bentley was in that movie.

And so were Michael Fassbender Michael Shannon. Thank God no one ever let them near a superhero movie again!

Sigh.
Maybe I'll torrent it...? But I'm never watching Ang Lee's Hulk again. No matter what. :cmad: :cmad: :cmad:

I did my own fanedit of the movie....cut it down to 1hr and 6 min....much more enjoyable now.

I do think Stallone and Willis aren't terribly good actors. At least Willis seems to know his place and doesn't really stray too far outside of his limitations. I just never got the appeal of Sly.

The rest are just huge names in bad films.

I thought he was pretty good in Copland, but that is just me.

Well putting aside my argument about a bad performance versus a bad movie, didn't Jonah Hex bomb? I bet most people don't even remember that was a thing...it's not as infamous as Daredevil even if it's worse....which I wouldn't know since I never saw it. :woot:

You only cut out two hours of the movie. That's all... :oldrazz:
Watch Copland it's Sly's best performance it might sway you a little.

I considered watching it cause, you know, DE NIRO. But then I was like "Meh." and let it fall off of my queue. Guess I'll need to hunt it down.

I think most people tried to forget that brief period of time when they were trying to make Megan Fox happen

Guess TMNT didn't get the memo,

Also: http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=jonahhex.htm

Jonah Hex had a production budget of 47 million and had a domestic gross of 10.5 million, with a *worldwide* gross of under 11 million....ouch.

So yeah, nobody saw that POS so I think everyone was happy to sweep it under the rug.

Several people (including my wife) who absolutely hated the original movie and refused to watch it again....will now sit down and watch my version with me.

No Hulk dogs, no Kick Nolte, no abusive childhood.....

Also, Liotta, Keitel, Robert Patrick. The cast is insane. It's still streaming on Netflix, I just rewatched it the other night. It's excellent. You should see it.

Why did you remind me of that? It's going to be terrible.

Did you remove 90% of Jennifer Connelly's scenes too? Cause all she did was stand around, stare off into the distance and cry.

But that's pretty much all she ever does as an actress....

I guess it popped back up. Good to know.
I'm with you on Keitel, I'm meh on Liotta (LOVE him in Goodfellas, haven't been too impressed on him in anything else I've seen), Robert Patrick is always welcome in my home

Hex bombed bad...and it was the writer's and directors fault, not the fault of any particular actor.

I wonder which is worse...making a movie and it being famous because some think its bad....or making a movie and no one even giving a **** that you made it at all?

I know I was hoping a fools hope here, but I actually wanted Ben to direct and star in another DD. I'm a huge DD fan and I thought the director's cut of the first film was ok despite having silly parts. I never saw "Gone Baby" but if it was a Dennis Lehaine book and he did a good job then he is well equipped to make the awesome DD film I imagine. I dunno, it's just always having this hope of him redeeming DD and now him playing this similar character is hard to adjust to.

I would take the ladder on that one. I'd rather make a movie, it be **** and go under the radar. That leaves me hope to hop on another movie and try my hardest and people going "wait..didn't he make that other movie I can't remember?" and not "OHH MY GOD! he did that other movie that bombed soo badly! HE SUCKS!"

I'd watch a 2 hour Jennifer Connelly movie where all she does is stand and stare. :o

The point of bringing up Jonah Hex is that it points out the fanboy double standard. They are okay with certain actors who have mediocre or bad comic book movies in their resume (Brolin, Bentley, Fassbender) but not with others (Affleck).

Affleck is A-OK in my eyes. I honestly have no gripe with him. There was a bit of shock but just because for me it came out of left field. I honestly never thought he was a bad actor.....but it will take me a while to get over the fact he wont have a Boston accent :oldrazz:

Ask James Cameron :woot:

But, in the case we are talking about....it's a lot harder to find anyone who actually likes Jonah Hex....while there are many that do like DareDevil. So you have on one hand a bad movie that no one knows about....and on the other hand an OK movie that got bad press.

Every time someone says "Affleck ruined Daredevil, now he's gonna ruin Batman" a kitten dies.

Honestly, with how frequently actors/actresses/directors/casting departments are getting thrown under the bus these days I'd like to sneak under the radar making a bad film, get it out of the way, make as little waves as possible, and chalk it up to experience. Take what I learned and go make a great movie.

I personally couldn't take the constant ridicule from fans/newspapers/etc. but thats just me
