Enthusiasts are pretty much above average by definition.

But of course the training will yield great results when you have all the best help you can get. It's pretty common for Hollywood people to get some less than legal supplements to help as well, which increases the results even more.

I doubt Affleck will be using steroids since Snyder and specifically Gym Jones have been pretty outspoken about not wanting to use them. Caville was completely natural.
Yeah there was the THR steroid/harmones expose where they said that above 40 stars might use them to get the required physique.

The quote from Mark Twight was very interesting in that he said that atleast for Superman, Cavill using steroids would have spoiled their marketing campaign! They actually did use Cavill's transformation as a major publicity handle, so obviously the scrutiny was going to be much more.

Is that a Affleck Manip?

Totally :) And so is this:

I don't think we should worry about Affleck being able to get physically ready for Batman:

That's odd. Perhaps he is simply doing some work of his own accord and then closer to production Snyder will bring in Gym Jones.

Yeah, Snyder apparently instructed Twight to have Cavill bulk up, maintain that weight for six months, and then slim down a bit for certain scenes. I imagine he'd want to have a similar relationship with the trainer who works with Affleck.

Yeah I'm not worried. I think he is going to be the best looking Batman ever. He looks the most like Batman in the face, he will have the best physique, and knowing Snyder he will have the best Batman costume to date. And I have faith he can pull off the performance to back it up. I'm really hyped for this film since they announced this casting.

Interesting news. Do you have a source article?

His trainer is Rehan Jalali. He has been constantly putting tweets and messages on his twitter since the casting saying Ben Affleck is going to look absolutely shredded and that Rehan is gearing up for that. He's very strongly indicating that he's going to be Affleck's trainer.

He trained Affleck for The Town and they continued after that, so they have a four year relationship.

This right out of the gate will indicate how much influence Affleck has. If some lesser star had been cast, I doubt Snyder would have allowed him to chose his own trainer and put him at with Gym Jones, ALL his actors have always trained at Gym Jones, but Affleck not training with them will show he has more say in things than just being an actor for hire.

That's a nice little scoop ya got there. Good info!

I love the Hype. Give it another week and Bale will be seen as an "okay" Batman and Affleck will be seen as the true Batman...without shooting a lick of film.

Love the Hype.

I really get Daniel Craig vibes with that photo.

But yes, read the article. Replace Craig with Affleck, and you have many of the same accusations.

"This smacks of that wonderful "flavor-of-the-month" casting that Hollywood loves when it comes to Brit actors who star in a movie that gains a cult following in the US. They've just cast the most high-profile new Brit of the moment."

:woot:

From 2005 about Craig:

"it is not about chemistry, it's about her being same strong if not stronger than Bond. (but It is not so hard to get..Craig don't seem to be able to play a strong character anyway messed)"

Once you run out of ideas, you can't just use trash to make it as good as the old movies. And a blonde Bond will not work either."

"And bad for us... thumb down
That's putting it mildly, 007.

This guy will need to come from FAR to convince me!
We had to wait a bloody year and a half for this? Not my fave at all and he's too old! They were nagging about finding a guy between 28-30, why pick a 37 year old then??? Just rewrite your script like you had it set for Pierce and get him back then since age clearly isn't an obstacle like they lied about "

Thanks! It might yet be the case that Rehan is presuming and that Affleck will get atleast get some training from Gym Jones but so far it seems Rehan will be training Affleck.

And keep in mind, Cavill will be shooting U.N.C.L.E. in London from Sept-Feb and Affleck will be in the U.S. shooting GG from Sept-Feb. So Mark Twight is going to be in London with Cavill. So he wouldn't have been available to train Affleck eitherways.

It's hard to believe how much Affleck looks like Arkham Batman. You can barely tell that's a manip.

Snyder is very much about look and style. I'm sure this is one of the reasons Affleck was chosen in the first place.

:funny: I remember all of this like it was yesterday. I remember several British and American newspapers were fully anti-Craig as Bond.

Sorry to beat a dead horse :woot: but I firmly believe that Affleck was chosen for business reasons alone. He obviously did not do a single test, or a costume test or a chemistry test or read the script (it is being written) or anything at all, he was directly made the offer and his lawyers negotiated the deal.

No consideration went in casting Affleck than landing a big A list star and some money matters. They did not think anything besides that.

^ I'm sure there are plenty of comic quotes he could have read as Batman. And you know this, where?

Okay now I've had a few days to gather my thoughts, I am stoked Affleck is doing this.

At first I wasn't sure, I havn't seen any of his directing debuts as of yet except for Gone Baby Gone which is an absolutely stunning movie. (gonna watch Town and Argo tonight or tomorow.) I believe his talent lies more in directing than acting, but I'm willing to stay open minded, I think the fact he's such an actors director will be a advantage to him playing such an iconic character, and the fact that he accepted the role, at this time, when he's on a high streak and becoming a really well-known Director, says more to me than his acting ability. This move could potentially ruin his career and rep that he's thought so hard to get back, and he knows it. That to me tells me, a) he really wanted it and is fully commited, and b) there must have been something to change his mind given his previous stance on doing another superhero movie.

Also, for a 'older seasoned fighter as they seem to be going for, I think Affleck is the best choice, say what you will but his eyes can definately give off that 'secluded and lost soul' thing.

That Cinema Blend article is priceless. Even if I was reading that back then, before any of us knew how good Craig would be as Bond, I still would have thought that writer sounded like an whining idiot.

I think those wanting a grey Batman suit will be disappointed, I really don't think it would work in live action. Infact I think it would look ridiculous. I can't see them suddenly switching from Black to Grey. I mean look at the latest Batman animated show the reason he has a black costume in that is cause it's semi real looking.

Beware the Batman, in no sense of the word, looks "semi real looking". It is just as stylized as any 2D animated incarnation ever has been.
Now the Arkham Games on the other hand look "semi real looking", and the Arkham Origins costume looks state of the badass art.

Yeah, but you can tell by looking at Caville he doesn't show the usual telltale signs of steroid use, so when they say it was natural I believe them.

You can't just look at all users and see signs. I've seen users that didn't even manage to look very fit, but obviously had still greatly benefited from using. Mainly fighters, as I've been a competitive martial artist myself.

But as said, I'm not out to accuse anyone. I'm merely pointing out that Hollywood actors have access to everything that can be used to get great results.

I do like that Affleck is a fan of Batman. Not just someone who is learning about the character when they got the role.

I know he was a big fan of Daredevil, if he's a fan of Batman that's a plus too.

Apologies if this has been already posted, this just came up on my twitter.

http://www.totalfilm.com/news/ben-affleck-could-play-batman-across-numerous-films

Ben Affleck's casting as Batman in Man Of Steel 2 was easily the biggest news of last week, and the doubters had better get used to the idea of seeing Affleck as the Dark Knight for a while.

Heat Vision reports that Affleck has actually signed a contract to play Bruce Wayne across numerous films, with Man Of Steel 2 only the beginning.

The website's sources state that Affleck "has been signed for multiple movies" in the event that further sequels are greenlit. Those sources add that other movies could include another standalone Batman and an appearance in Justice League.

Talking of which, Heat Vision notes that Affleck's deal could see him finally accepting a directing gig on Justice League - a job he apparently turned down earlier this year.

Shooting on Man Of Steel 2 is expected to kick off in February 2014 and wrap in August 2014, which gives Affleck time to film his role in David Fincher's Gone Girl before donning the cowl.

After completing his first stint as Batman, Affleck will then shoot his fourth film as director, prohibition gangster flick Live By Night.

Forget about Batman - Affleck's about to become so busy that we should all start referring to him as Blue-Arsed-Fly Man...

Man Of Steel 2 opens 17 July 2015.
