Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman - Part 1

Seriously. If Affleck's direction can't bring out an at least tolerable Leto Joker, than he just needs to be recast.

I'll give you that. Leto is a good actor though. Ayer just didn't handle the direction very well. I believe in Affleck.

Whether Jared’s take is liked or not, i find it hard to imagine Ben trying to ape off what is essentially Ayer’s very unique version of the character.

It’s clear Ben has a more classical and romanticized view of baddies. It couldn’t be more opposite of whatever Ayer and Leto tried to present.

I have to believe there would be significant rewrites, if not outright retcons in how the character will next appear. That’s the “bad” part about a shared universe. Everyone has to be on the same page well ahead of time, especially if there are likely to be very hard and separate outlooks in how to approach a given character.

The Joker can be whatever he needs to be for the film he's in. Y'all are acting like the Clown Prince of Crime doesn't do what he wants when he wants. If the Joker wants to dress up like David Livingstone on a safari and pretend he's hunting Batman like he's a lion or some **** it wouldn't be out of character.

I'd watch the hell outta that. Also I'm sure Affleck is capable if adapting. He wouldn't have signed onto an existing universe if he wasn't good to play ball.

Needs a "like" button so I can like the hell outta this.

Exactly.

He's Joker, "normal rules" don't apply to Joker.

Character rules still apply, though. No, you can not do ANYTHING with Joker because he's got a set personality with set traits.

Two of those traits being complete unpredictability and spontaneity.

There are no rules for fictional characters.

Characters will always have their own different interpretations under different people. What matters is how they're written and executed that allows someone to make a proper judgement of said interpretation.

Easy fix for the tattoos. Have Batman knock Jokah into a brand spanking new ladle of acid. DONE.

That didn't work when he went in after Harley.

Easy fix? Mention this bit from Arkham Asylum:

The Joker from that graphic novel was pure nightmare fuel.

I wouldn't mind if the tats were just inexplicably gone. No mention of them, just gone.
I don't think anyone else would mind either

Same here but with these studio people it seems that everything needs to "make sense" and be "grounded". :cmad:

"He fell into a vat of bleaching chemicals again. What a clumsy moron." - there you go, grounded approach.

The tattoes must also be wiped from our memories.

Grant us this wish, Affleck.

Free electroshock therapy under every seat in the theater, a la "Suicide Squad"? I can see a marketing potential for this.

"Suicide Squad"-style therapy to forget "Suicide Squad".

Yeah, I like that idea too. Its kinda like when they make slight modifications to costumes in sequels (like the MOS/BvS Superman suit) - its been altered but nothing to the extent that it requires an explanation as, quite frankly, no one but a few fanboys will even care or be bothered.

A problem was that Leto's Joker didn't get a proper treatment. He was toned down into a lovesick puppy. I'm not interested in that. I don't think other fans are, either. Give me the abusive, cruel manipulator. They chickened out after the response of BvS. The real joke was on them.

Exactly. The one thing you can't do with the Harley and Joker relationship is making it mutual on both sides. It's supposed to be one-sided on Harley, and Harley alone, as well as abusive and manipulative.

That and, Joker is not supposed to be some sort of sex symbol. Like, I'm still baffled they took that route with him.
