Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman - Part 1

So when's the last time some good news came out of this universe? And a picture hardly warrants that. Seems all the DCEU has gotten as of late has ranged from lukewarm to outright bad news.

This was the perfect opportunity to make a classic film. You make an outstanding Batman film you become a legend and get a free pass to do whatever once you hit a home run as Batman director. This was something you clear your schedule for. He just got afraid of the pressure. I'm losing faith in this by the minute.

Wonder Woman comes out in June and Justice League comes out in November. THAT...is awesome.

I said news, not dates when movies come out. And those movies could end up with the same reception as Dawn of Justice or Suicide Squad. Will they? I don't know, but those films coming out isn't news or a silver lining.

No such thing as a silver lining when it comes to Hollywood. "News" and "scoops" are going to be changing constantly and there's always going to be good and bad. Best to wait for the JL trailer and the marketing for Wondy and JL rev up. It's not like Affleck is totally out. That's clearly not the case. If it were, than hit the panic button. It's just something that sounds bad that will eventually take shape when they get somebody in place to collaborate. You can't have a stressed out director and actor going into a huge project.

And yet despite all the pressure Snyder has on building out this universe, he still gave us the likes of Dawn of Justice and is doing Justice League, both tall tasks when there's already proof that there's pressure on him to do this right and not screw up again. He toughed it out on a huge project, and I say that not even as a huge Snyder fan.

Point is Wonder Woman and Justice League coming out are hardly good news. A year ago, in light of Dawn of Justice, I would've thought Suicide Squad coming out and being something different would be awesome news. I was wrong.

It's good news to hear Geoff John's and Affleck are still collaborating and on a mission to make The Batman something great regardless of who's in the director's chair. This step-down is more about Affleck the director as it is doom and gloom of the DCEU. When all said and done, Affleck is still going to be a huge part of The Batman.

Yeah but no matter how much they want to make it great there is still the dip ****s at WB meddling. ZOD I'M PISSED OFF!!

Ben Affleck will not direct "The Batman" (EXCLUSIVE) http://bit.ly/2kNMazI

I'm disappointed, but glad he is still writing it and be the main producer. Rumor about Matt Reeves being looked at, that is good choice if true.

Also, why folks blaming WB? This feels like purely his decision. The bad reviews for Live By Night got to him as a director imo, but wont know till he talks about it, which he most likely do soon.

Isn't he still executing producing, starring, and most likely have script credit for this? Fools acting like he abandoned the project altogether. And being Exec producer, he still has final say in what goes and stays. Ultimately, he's still the director behind the director if you will, he just won't be doing the nitty gritty of actually directing the thing. It's understandable, as he has said before that the goal for the next costume would be to make it as comfortable as possible so he can direct while in costume. Direct and starring in the same film is tough enough. You throw in a claustrophobia causing costume, and you add that much more complication.

Because they be rushing these film makers and not making good decisions. Ben even said that he and the company made the decision for him to step down.

Weeks ago people were fools for reading too much into Ben's refusal to commit to a start date. Or for presuming there was trouble behind the scenes when Ben still could not get the script down right. Ben literally leaves the director chair open (effectively putting the project on hold) and people are fools for reacting accordingly? Keep moving that goal post...

Eh, we have seen nothing but support from WB towards Ben.

I aint talking about rumors etc.

Between these types of news about the DCEU and Trump's shenanigans over the weekend, we're in for one helluva year folks.

Affleck was never my first, second, or third choice for Batman, so I'm actually pretty happy about this.

I'm going to be the voice of reason, people. This is GOOD. Look, let's all be honest here, Affleck was overwhelmed. You could see it.He was starting to crack and let his frustration out in the media. It was a LOT for anyone to take on. Writing, directing, producing and starring in a big multi-million dollar budget film is a task of mammoth proportions. Affleck is obviously invested in the character and this universe but this was clearly a ton of pressure that he didn't need and it was diverting his focus.

People, Affleck is still producing, writing the script and he's still BATMAN. I feel like this will still be Ben's movie but bringing someone in to point the cameras, yell "action!" and "cut!" If thats what it takes to get the pressure off of Ben's back so he can focus on delivering a tour de force performance and fine tune the script, then so be it. I've said this before, when Ben was being constantly nagged in the press, if Ben was that clearly frustrated with everything, then it was not a good place for the movie to be in. No director should start a movie from a place of frustration and exhaustion, it never ends well. A director should be excited and passionate.

I believe in this movie, and whoever they get, I think this will still be a Ben Affleck film in spirit.

I'd be down with Tim Miller taking the reigns...those kickass cg trailers for the Arkham games were directed by him right?

The awesomeness is probably going to be saved by WB for the "extended cuts" only on blu-ray and digital downloads...

They were made by his studio but the only one that I know of to have been directed by him was this one.

I don't get why anyone would be mad about this. Would you rather him poop out a wack ass Batman film?

I rolled my eyes so hard at this that I can now see into infinity.

I do not understand the huge doom and gloom surrounding the fact Affleck is not directing the Batman. He's still starring in it, co writing it and I can get you he'll be heavily involved in editing it. The project is still happening folks and if you ask me it's smart of Affleck, he would have to direct big action sequences to which he really doesn't have huge experience with and he'd have to do that whilst been in them.
