Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman - Part 1

WB should've just continued with whatever Zack Snyder was planning for the DC Universe. They thought he wasn't good enough, brought inexperienced Geoff Johns in and now look at all the mess he created. With Zack, at least there would've been some consistency in building the universe without unnatural tonal shifts and fallouts. Staying faithful to comics won't help the film much, Geoff.

I don't have high hopes on Wonder Woman to be honest. Consider me out after Justice League.

The studio probably offered him something in exchange not to drop out all together. I don't believe for a moment he wishes to reprise the role more than he agreed to already.

You have no idea what's going on at WB, along with everyone else here.

Affleck might want to leave.

Affleck might want to stay, but doesn't want to direct in the suit.

Affleck might want to stay, but doesn't want to start directing ASAP.

Affleck might want to stay, but doesn't think he can shoulder it all. Chris Nolan had his brother to help him carry that load. Maybe that's what Affleck needs.

Stop acting like you're a fly on the wall.

Ok herolee, let's all start blaming Geoff.

There is zero evidence this happened. You believe what you want to believe. I cant change that.

For now, he is currently doing a movie he isnt contracted to do. That tells me he is commited, so do his words today. Thats all I have to say.

I would love DCEU to be good and I had hope it will be. That hope ended when they gave Ayer Gotham Sirens. You can exaggerate as much as you want to, say 'Jesus', use exclamation points - it doesn't change the fact that in regards to DCEU WB does not deserve anyone's defense or hoping for the best.

How am I exaggerating? I'm posting what's in the statement. You're the one saying you know he wants out as Batman when you don't know for sure. He's still gonna be involved in the film it's happening!

LOL, why are you calling him Herolee? I think you are confusing him with that other guy who popped up in the Henry Cavill thread yesterday. Trevor seems to be pro-Zack which Herolee most certainly isnt :hehe:

Exactly and that's my issue with that poster.

All we have to go in is Affleck's statement and in it it he reaffirms he's committed to the project and his reasonsing for step down as director.

I'll act however I want to. So can you, which is ignoring what is happening and wasting your time on hoping DCEU is suddenly gonna be good. Have fun with that.

IMO this an Affleck thing. I think he wants to do Batman, but he's pissed about Live By Night.

Well feel free to spread your misery somewhere else. If you don't like the DCEU why ***** and moan about it incessantly?

So why are you here then? Why waste time hating on something and wishing for it to fail?

I think he is not sure he can handle such a big movie, while simulatenously starring in it. The pressure would be tremendous. Might be personal reasons too, he has a shaky marriage, and kids. He has been constantly working for over 2-years now. I can see him taking some time out now, spending it with his family, and refreshing his batteries. Guy looks wrecked in his interviews. LBN certainly took a toll on him.

Thats why I am amazed by Zack Snyder. The guy is a f-ing machine. He does one blockbuster after another, despite the tremendous pressure, workload and hate.

As I said before aswell he has no experience directing a huge action blockbuster. That's pressure in itself, and he is gonna be starring in it. That's a lot to handle I think for his and the films sake he's probably made the right decision.

I'm just offering my take on what happened. I really wish DCEU was good. I'm not gonna be labeled as hater and laughed at, though, focus your anger on the studio not people who are disappointed by what they are putting out there.

It is a bit much. Can you imagine the press tour and what it would be like interviewing as the director and star of the Batman? It's kind of insane.

Actually you disrespected everyone by basically saying fans of the DCEU are deluded.

Yeah and look at the pressure he's already been under before he's even started filming.

It was not my intention. It's WB doing stuff that is wrong here, not people hoping for the best (for reasons unknown to me).

People aren't happy with this news but it's not the disaster that some are making it out to be at all. Affleck is still on board both creatively and as a star.

I would be reasonably happy with Gavin O'Connor (The Accountant) taking over the director's job. He is a good director, that did great action sequences for the Accountant, and is a good emotional storyteller. He has worked with Ben before, and I can see Ben and him sort of co-directing the whole thing.

My first choice still would be someone like Matt Reeves though.

Matt Reeves is one a lot of people want. This is the thing for me if WBs announces him or say George Miller are doing it the doom will automatically disappear.

Oh yes, please!
