I actually doubt that there will be more than one (if that many) solo Batman films with Affleck as Batman.

I recall his negotiations for Justice League broke down because he said if he directed, he wanted to play a lead as well.

    I would say he's signed a 3-picture deal.

    -This film.
    -A solo Batman film (maybe).
    -Justice League film.

Ben isn't going to be playing this role well into his 50s.

I'm all for it -- but as far as WORLD BUILDING and making a DC Cinematic Universe, going old out of the gate isn't the best approach -- even though I love the more seasoned Batman.

    We'll see.

Doesn't look the role? He has the Bruce Wayne look. And he can definitely clean up well when it's required so there's nothing wrong there.

Honestly I think we can't judge his performance and say he's not a good choice until we see something from him. We're not film makers or actors so who are we to judge if he'll play a character "correctly" or not. I don't want to sound like an a-hole but sheesh people get over yourselves.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Do you really expect Ben Affleck to return as Batman for about 3-6 more films to play Batman in DC's cinematic Universe? By then he'll be in his late 50's! Affleck is a great director he should stick to that! They should have casted Tyler Hoechlin because he's young, big, and in the spotlight right now. He's also fantastic in Teen Wolf.

    *sigh*

    DC will never learn.

RDJ was 43 when IM came out.

Affleck will be 43 when MoS2 comes out.

If RDJ is any indicator, Affleck will be fine. :)

Why do they need to cast the same guys who already played one superhero into another role? this does not make sense.

"Hi, boys. Did you miss me? I've got good news and bad news for you. Here's the bad, they're still not letting me back in the director's chair for anything to do with Batman. Here's the good, they did let me cast the latest Batman... Ben seemed like he'd be a lot of fun."

    ...

In all seriousness, I shouldn't poke fun too much, because a lot of people had egg on their face when they made fun of Heath's casting. Maybe Ben will pull out all the stops and surprise us naysayers big time. I'm just hoping he's matured a lot since Daredevil.

I loved School Ties and Hollywoodland. I honestly think he is a good actor. One thing I don't think people realize sometimes is that he is actually very fit and physical. Dude is like 6-3 maybe 6-4. A solid work out regimen and he will prob bring the most physically imposing Batman we've yet seen on screen. I for one am glad he is getting a shot.

I had forgotten Affleck had played Superman's George Reeves. So Affleck will have Daredevil, Batman and George Reeves/Superman under his belt. Hmmm!

Edward Norton as Hulk tho >>>>>> Mark Ruffalo. I had to comment on this cause i feel Edward Norton doesn't get his due for how great he was as Hulk.

Well, I think the Daredevil Director's Cut is pretty damn good.

Given a good script, Affleck can more than pull this off.

In fact, they should let him direct it. He hasn't failed once as a director. Can't say that about Snyder.

    TF and also WTF.

Well, at least they're going for an older Batman. Could have gone older, this is ok.

Everyone knows that they're going to get it right this time and pick Crispin Glover for Mr. J and Sarah Jayne Dunn as Harley Quinn. :awesome:

I'm not going to say the casting decision was genius, and I'm not going to run to the other side and say its horrible because he is Ben Affleck. I really don't know how to feel about it. Right now I will just say I am neutral towards the decision, and will put my faith in Zach Snyder for whatever reason (not a fan of his films to begin with), but I hope it turns out well.

Dafoe is the only one I have always thought could beat Nicholson and Ledger at once.

well...i trust zack snyder and david goyer.

ben must have impressed them in his audtion. David, Zack, WB, and the casting people must see something in him that we don't.

he needs to get into great physical shape and train in martial arts.

physically he is not right for the part but if he trains real hard he can get there like he did in daredevil. because truthfully i don't see him as bruce wayne at all. he could pull it off because bruce wayne is a complicated - complex character.

there's the detective side, the billionare playboy side, the dark and brooding side, - and then there is batman in his mask and cowl kicking ass. can ben show all that? we will see.

how will he make his bruce wayne/batman different from all those that came before him.

even val kilmer in view looking back was a very good batman/bruce wayne - it's just that the film around him sucked. val showed the many shades of bruce - the playboy side, the billionare industrialist side, the dark angry confused side, and he was a good batman too.

And i think they need to create a convincing bruce wayne look for affleck.

i don't like the casting but i also see how it might work too. we will see how it works.

i was hoping they would choose scott adkins. because he is physically right for the part and has the look and the acting ability and would stick around for alot more movies.

oh well. we must wait and see. it could work.

Well I did not see it coming. That is the best I can say. Just like a poor sap right before the train hits.

It might not be that bad, seriously though. It might not.

At least my expectations will now be in check.
