I have a sneaking hunch that Bale at least is very happy how this pans out. If Zack Snyder really gets to be in charge of the first two Batman movies with Ben Affleck, his legacy with Nolan and The Dark Knight is just going to look better and better as the years pass.

I figured when I started this thread, that Batfleck would win, I just wanted to know by how much. But, I'm not gonna lie, this thread has cemented certain thoughts that I've had about the Batman fanbase, and comic fans in general. Very enlightening thread.

Wait till the hype dies down, and fanboys calm themselves.

This happened with Garfield and Macguire in the Spider-Man forums here too.

Tim Burton's Batman smiles before he blows up a clown.

Which was also rightfully hated by the fan base (among several other things);

Affleck.

Strong, muscular body. Fights like the Arkham games. Is a handsome individual who passes for a billionaire playboy, and remains a respected identity. He's the chief executive and runs a successful business, seemingly being more hands on and creating his own equipment. I think he ticks a lot of boxes, and has charisma as well. Love Bale still, though.

1. Affleck
2. Bale
3. Keaton
4. West
5. Kilmer
6. Clooney

definitely christian bale. every time I saw ben affleck all I could see was an actor in a suit. not bruce wayne, not batman. now obviously that's literally what he was, but I couldn't get passed it while watching the movie. it was too transparent to me.

Would you care to elaborate?

To be fair, this thread was made way too early. It's the shiny new toy syndrome, plus people may not have fully appreciated with Nolan and Bale brought to the table.

Having said I'll wait till after Justice League to decide how highly I rate Affleck, i've decided Keaton is still my favourite Bat's for now.

Keaton's still my favourite Bats, I just think Affleck did the best at the combined roles of Bruce and Batman.

The thing is, there hasn't been a truly perfect portrayal of Batman in live action and there probably never will be. I guess the closest thing to a perfect Batman would be a mix of Bale, Affleck, and Keaton.

40% Affleck (costume, fighting skills, Batvoice)
40% Bale (performance as Bruce Wayne, detective skills)
20% Keaton (gadgets, overall mysteriousness of the character)

That's not very open minded. Are you afraid he'll say something you disagree with?

Like he's been open minded, honestly I have no time for the guy. He knows what he's doing.

Reading comments on social media I get the impression Bale fans feel a little threatened these days

What's he done that's so terrible?

If you mean this thread being too premature hot on the heels of BvS' release, I agree. But that doesn't make him close minded or a bad person.

I honestly can't understand why though, we've had some great live action Batman's just enjoy them all I say. Doesn't matter if a person prefers one over another.

So...don't partake in the discussion if he chooses to respond? I asked because I've also thought the reception to this movie is telling of the fan base, and am curious to see what he thinks that outlook is.

These kinds of threads are always done premature but to create one knowing it will get a certain result that he wanted because he basically thinks it confirmed sonething to him is sad IMO.

You guys can argue about the little details all you want, but it's clear as day that this Batman had no problem with killing people. That's just how it is. You can debate all day long about each individual instance or whether Bale killed as much, but it's the intent that matters in the end.

The intent is clear and not up for debate. To me that's an integral part of the character, and that's why Batfleck will always be a bastardized version of Batman in my mind.

the creators of batman beg to differ.

It's sad to create a thread to confirm a theory you have?

The creators of Batman canned the gun toting killing version of him in less than a year. By Batman #4 they had him saying he never uses guns. Or do you think that brief and unpopular characterization eclipses over 75 years of characterization? Perhaps you think it's better that there be no Batcave, Alfred, Gotham City etc since they were all absent in the original creation of Batman, too.

I'm still very surprised that Ben hasn't run far and away with this. I would not have been surprised in the least if the poll was way more heavily in his favor. Before the movie came out, he had everything going for him. After the grounded approach in the TDKT, people were desperate for a comic-accurate Batman. He was given the best Batsuit and possibly superhero costume ever onscreen, looks like he was ripped off Jim Aparo's pages or BTAS, amazing fight scenes, visuals, got to be brutal as hell, was heavily inspired by the supremely popular TDKR, and he got to take down Superman, which should have been exhilarating.

The fact that Batfleck isn't the slam dunk definitive Batman, even so fresh off the movie's release, is a staggering failure, and a testament to how strong Bale was as the Dark Knight.

In this fast-paced, exaggerating, and quite frankly superficial world we live in, Batfleck should be destroying Bale right now.

They shouldn't. Bale's legacy is intact and it always will be.

That's true. I find some Nolan Trilogy fans are a bit weird though, I've had a lot of grief from them for simply failing to acknowledge The Dark Knight as a masterpiece.
