Ben Affleck To Team With DC’s Geoff Johns On Standalone ‘Batman’ Film - Part 4

If Affleck leaves then that's really it. I don't see how this wouldn't be a big deal. You get your biggest star as Batman to leave from your cinematic universe. It's self explanatory. This isn't Terrence Howard or Edward Norton, this is Ben Affleck as Batman.

I don't think he'll leave, especially now with Reeves who hopefully can cook something up to at least put a smile on Affleck's recent sad looking face.

Michael Keaton left as Batman and Batman Forever survived. It would suck on paper but if he left but if we still ended up getting a killer Batman movie with a fully committed actor than I don't think anyone would complain.

THR said Matt Reeves also is a producer on the project too, so I'm pretty sure the negotiations had to do with both pay AND creative control... Also FYI the guy who said Affleck is still attached was the editor of Fandango's news site. So he probably wouldn't ******** that.

I think all the guys who are "in control" are getting a producer credit. Goyer got a producer credit on the Green Lantern movie & he is just writing it.

Give me a break. The script is probably trash at this point. Reeves and co need to rework the script all year before shooting so let's hope they can make it better, with Reeves getting more control. But I'm not going to be excited for this film until I see footage, hear about the characters and hear from a legit source that Affleck is staying (sorry but I don't know who that was on Twitter who said WB confirmed Ben's involvement).

It is slightly different, but it's still your lead actor leaving the role. Like I said, if he leaves, it would be a huge story/bad PR, but if they recast the role with a good actor and we get a really awesome Batman movie out of it, all will be forgiven.

The initial PR storm would be tough, but as a fan I'd rather have someone in the role that actually wants to be there instead of someone just fulfilling a contract obligation.

Replace Affleck with a quality actor and the storm can be weathered. That's just my two cents.

Nothing should be written in stone pre-JL, but I’d be so much more hopeful if Ben just comments on the situation right now. It’s standard practice to not engage with the rumor cycle, but the questions surrounding his presence is too big to just ignore.

it’s not his fault, but I’ve gotten sick of hearing Ben not being involved anymore. It’s sad because we’re not really going to know until after JL is released.
