Mississippi Grind is a drama about two unlikely friends on a betting Hail Mary run through the Southern states stars Ryan Reynolds, Ben Mendelsohn, Analeigh Tipton, Sienna Miller and is co-directed and written by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden.

Gerry is a talented, but struggling poker player about to be swallowed up by his unshakeable gambling habit. But his luck begins to change after he meets the young, charismatic Curtis. Gerry convinces his new lucky charm to hit the road with him, towards a legendary high stakes poker game in New Orleans.

The highs and lows unveil the duo’s true characters and motivations, and an undeniable bond forms between them.

I finally caught this last night and really liked it. Reynolds gets to shine in this type of role where he's got a great character to play, especially against Ben Mendelsohn who is becoming one of my favourite actors. They play off each other incredibly well. Sienna Miller appears and while she doesn't have much screen time, she does have a presence and looks smoking hot as a red head.

Mississippi Grind was shot on film and it definitely adds to that classic look and feel of the various locations. I will revisit this again when I'm in the mood to watch some road movies.
