The Hollywood Reporter posted word this morning about two dueling projects centered around the infamous Bermuda Triangle set up at both Skydance Productions (Terminator Genisys) and Universal Pictures.
The Skydance project is being penned by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time), and will revolve around the area of the North Atlantic Ocean between Florida, Puerto Rico and Bermuda where numerous aircraft and ships have mysteriously vanished. The waters, sometimes referred to the Devil’s Triangle, have been a hotspot for conspiracy theorists who attribute these strange disappearances to anything from ghosts to extraterrestrial activity.
Meanwhile, Universal has tapped Ouija screenwriters Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to rewrite an existing script penned by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Spider-Man 2), which will be produced by Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark for Bluegrass Films. The hiring of Snowden and White may indicate a more low-budget approach to the material, since they were brought in to serve a similar function of simplifying Ouija from a $100 million dollar project to a $5 million dollar one that proved quite profitable for the studio.
Whatever the approach of either of these projects, the article fails to mention a third script by Dan Kunka also titled The Bermuda Triangle which Warner Bros. purchased back in 2013 for producers Charles Roven, Richard Suckle and Adam Kolbrenner to develop as a potential action franchise. Chunk is also currently writing Space Invaders for Warner Bros.
The Bermuda Triangle was previously the subject of a 1975 TV movie titled “Satan’s Triangle,” followed by other films such as 1978’s The Bermuda Triangle, 2001’s The Triangle and the 2005 TV miniseries “The Triangle.”

Well I hope they dont reshash the same things previous films tried because none of them were memorable.

Sam Raimi is a good director so maybe there is hope on the horizon for 1 of the 3.

A little over a year ago it was reported that Skydance Productions was in development on a Bermuda Triangle film, with Sam Raimi attached to direct. Since then details regarding the film have been kept submerged… until now. According to our sources Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is set to star in the lead role. Character details are under wraps at this moment. The studio is also currently casting for the lead female role of Commander Vogel, who is the first female commander of a nuclear submarine. The plot reads as follows. When a massive submarine carry nuclear weapons goes missing in the Bermuda Triangle, Commander Vogel enlists the help of Dr. Fisk (Likely Reynolds) a theoretical physicist, who while using his grandfather’s research opens a wormhole to reveal a mysterious island that is inhabited by anything lost in the triangle including Sharks, Vikings, and Nazis, in the hopes of finding the nuclear weapons. The film will begin shooting this September and should wrap sometime in October. Raimi will direct from a script by John Gatniss who wrote last years Power Rangers film, and will be produced by Annihilation’s Don Granger, David Ellison, and Dan Goldberg. There is currently no release date for Bermuda Triangle, However Universal and Warner Bros. also have Bermuda Triangle films in development, so expect Skydance to announce a release date real soon.

Not sure how credible this site is so this news should be taken with a grain of salt. The concept is totally wild so I'm looking forward to it if it does happen.

Paranormal Cinematic Universe.

1. Bermuda Triangle - 2019
2. Frogs Falling from the Sky (starring Amy Adams) - March 2020
3. The Yeti (played by Andy Serkis via motion-capture obvs) - December 2020
4. Team-up movie: The Yeti and Frogs in the Bermuda Triangle - Summer 2021

Don't act like you're not up for it.

I love a good paranormal conspiracy, that Ryan Reynolds one sounds like fun

That sounds fun as ****.

Okay, I'm in.

Always felt the Bermuda Triangle thing's been less exploited in stories than it should be, this sounds cool. Love that old X-Files episode, coincidentally also full of damn dirty Nazis.

Raimi had better not drop out, though. :( One of those "I'll believe it's happening when it's actually shooting" situations.

One film per point then? :p

I'm on board for the concept, but hope each film has something substantial behind them; I am curious on how both Nazi's and Vikings would have remained living together too - unless said wormhole has an element of time displacement? Wonder whether we'll get any Dinosaurs (specifically, those that inhabited the water or air; can't imagine a Rex swimming all that way)

Vikings, Nazis, prehistoric sea creatures.... Amelia Earhart. You know they're gonna find a way to put her in there.

One film per point then? :p

I'm on board for the concept,...)
Do not get on board, it's a paranormal ploy, anyone who attempts to see all three films will disappear.

.............forever! :shock

In 1975, ABC Movie of the Week showed SATAN'S TRIANGLE starring Doug McClure and Kim Novak. I have not seen it in decades....but I remember it as a very well done scary/intense film. I just checked, and it is on youtube. I'll have to rewatch it soon.

I remember that movie! I'll have to rewatch it as well! Thanks for the heads-up re YouTube

I can't remember watching any movies about the Bermuda triangle, but I do remember reading a Batman story inspired by it in the 70s. Anyway, the Raimi/Reynolds flick sounds like lots of fun.

A movie per angle. The Bermuda Angle trilogy.

Better be fun.

Now that I will watch.

Changed the title of the thread since there's seems to be only one of the three Bermuda Triangle-projects there is any development on at the moment.
