King Kong is probably the best I have ever seen, where as Blade 2, Spider-man 1, and Fantastic Four ROTSS when Richards is dancing in the club.

Best ever: Jurassic Park

Worst: Inevitably some low-budget, straight to video movie made in the early 90's. But I agree, Reed in the night club was awful.

As far as the worst goes, there is only one.

the ones that spring to mind and ruin the scenes they are in are the ones that go from live action to full cgi bad shots...

burly brawl in matrix reloaded (they should really fix that up now) and the two ninja vamps vs blade in blade 2.

It probably won't have people pressed but the best cgi for me would be the Hulk and that's because its from 2003 and some of its shots are comparable to work from today.

I would also say final fantasy advent children for creating 3d anime style that looks amazing and sets boundaries without particularly taking up too much memory. It's simplistic and works great.

Do Sci-Fi original movies count? Because "Sabertooth" is one of the most hilarious attempts at CG ever.

I'll probably get some stick for this, but I thought the CGI in KOTCS was awful. Especially the monkeys. Those frakkin', vine swinging, Shia Labouef-loving monkeys.

The Sabretooth looks like a cartoon :csad:

But then again,All Sci-fi channel orignal movies do =/

Best: LOTR, King Kong, Transformers

Best cgi: King kong, gollum/LOTR ,transformers, Hulk 2003, Jurassic park, Starship troppers(Specially for the time it came out those bugs look pretty real specialy when compared to some crappy stuff we get today)
T2 still holds up very well.

Worst:The cgi in blade 2, some of the cgi in the spiderman movies,
The cgi in most stephen sommers movies( specially the godawful van helsing that was some horrible cgi) There are a lot more but this are the first that come to mind.

Many of my faves have been named so I'm just adding Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Whatever they did they should do it again in the future films because finally the magic looked like magic.

Worst recent CGI was in I Am Legend, hands down. They should have invested the money they used for the animals and vampire creatures in a couple of decent makeup artists.

BEST CGI:

JURASSIC PARK:
Broke new ground and is still has one of the more consistent CGIs ever.

FIFTH ELEMENT:
The CGI for a movie that old is still very organic til this very day.

LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS: Out of the three, I think the TT has the best, because of GOLLUM.

TRANSFORMERS:
One of the few movies where I didn't complain about the effects. GO ILM.

PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN (ALL OF THEM):
Again, ILM broke new ground.

Worst CGI (mainstream only:

TRANSPORTER 2: I would go with the Transporter 2. OMG, it was bad. Not only was it bad, it lingered on the screen. I'm talking two scenes particularity: the bomb on the car and the airplane scene.

VAN HELSING: I can't believe that ILM did this movie. It looked awful. And it looks so dated now.

Best: Transformers, Spider-Man 2, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, The Lord Of The Rings

Worst: Attack Of The Clones, Indiana Jones 4

Best Cgi- jurrassic park, Return of the King

Worst Cgi- Spider-man 1 even though i liked that movie and Matrix 2 and 3

Why is there so much hate for the CGI in Spider-Man 1? I didn't think it was that bad, save for the part where Peter was chasing after the burglar in his wrestling outfit.

It wasnt terrible but at moments it was really cartoonish, him jumping on balloons, the fire fight, the wrestling outfit, the cgi wasnt enough to persuade me that it waS A bad movie but it was present. They really improved though with spider-man 2 however

Best: Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings, Cloverfield.

1. Jurassic Park
2. Pirates of the Carribean: DMC
3. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
4. King Kong
5. Terminator 2: Judgement Day

for a 2002 film, it was pretty decent.

the last swing scene was the best of the whole franchise.

The Mummy Returns CGI was pure awful, King Kong had sweet effects,

Best: King Kong

Worst: To be honest - I'm undecided but The Scorpion King at the end of The Mummy Returns has to be in with a shot (rumour has it that ILM were rushed due to the release date)

EDIT: I posted these ^ before I saw Tyler's choices above - just sayin'. Great minds think alike, eh? :D

Worst was the Scorpion King at the end of the Mummy 2, that was horrible.

Best CGI I've ever seen: The JP movies, Jackson's Kong and Transformers.

Worst CGI I've ever seen: The sharks in Deep Blue Sea still top the list for me, although the animatronics they used were beautiful.
