What is the best anime dub? What is the worst anime dub?

Well,fans who usually like a series would say it was done well.But the worst from what i heard was One Piece.

Any thing picked up and released by Viz media is pretty bad.

Viz media picked up Naruto, and the dub for that is great. Viz doesn't usually produce the dubs for their anime. They usually hire another production company out to do it.

Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, Bleach all have really quality dubs for shows that were/are huge in Japan.

The 4Kids dub of One Piece did suck pretty hard.

FLCL has a great english dub track. I don't listen to that many dubs but that is the only one that sticks out for me.

I thin DBZ is pretty good. I mean funimation did a total 360 when it came to dubbing. Once they got most of the rights to it the quality was so much better and the dialogue went with the original japnese script better. "Hey gohan lets go back to camp and roast some marshmellows" still haunts me to this day Saban/Funi dub evil!!!!! But still people profess the original dub was better(meh)! Naruto's dubs decent and they finally cut down on the believe it's!! Digimon was good as well and so was pokemon until battle frontier ash's voice is just off and james has offically crossed the homo line "I mean he was gayish already but his voice just makes him sound stereotypical"

are we talking specific voice actors or the entire series...

i always thought gundam wing had some really good dubbing to its name, i actually prefer the english to the original japanese...

I think we are talking the overall dub for a series.

GW does have a pretty solid English dub for an anime that Ocean did.

Wolf's Rain and Outlaw Star have the best dubs I've seen so far (to the point where I don't bother watching the original japanese versions because I prefer the dubs).

Sailor Moon's dubs are among the worst (even though I personally love Dic's dub of the first two seasons).

Cowboy Bebop is probably the best Dub. Maybe Lupin before Funimation got ahold of it.

The Worst are the Dragoball Series and Movies. Funimation gutted the hell out of those.

I remember hearing from a friend that Dragon Ball had been dubbed by someone else before...but I was under the impression it was only the first arc or two and then Funi got it and re-dubbed it.

I didn't know that there was another dub that not only covered all of DB, but DBZ as well.

How was it?

I liked a lot of Funi's dub cast...how did this Ocean Group's VA's do?

I think they did OK.

The Ocean Group (Canadian based voice-over company do lots of animation we are probably familiar with) did the first two seasons of DBZ before the show was mega popular and took off on Cartoon Network.

Funimation licensed it and cast new VA's in the roles. But then they decided to go back and show all of seasons 1 and 2 uncut and in their original format and they re-dubbed the episodes with their own actors instead of replays with the Ocean Group VA's.

The Ocean Group VA's however continued to dub the rest of the entire series DBZ for the rest of the world. Meaning in any other countries that aired DBZ in English, it had the dub with the Ocean Group actors.

I'm pretty sure Ocean Group did the original DB as well, and then Funimation licensed it and re-dubbed with their actors once again as well.

all of love hina's characters were really close to how i pictured them. Even kitsune, though how does a girl have a southern voice in Japan!?

It's an appropriation. The Japanese have a rural country kind of dialect way of speaking just like the US does. If a character has a southern accent in an English dub, it's the dub's way of reflecting or appropriating that character's alternative dialect or speech pattern in English.

Best: FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Samurai Champloo, and others I can't think of.
Worst: One Piece, Shaman King, Sonic X (poor Sonic ), anything 4Kids for that matter.

And that Bible Black dub video made my ears bleed.

The Best: Gundam Wing, Ronin Warriors and Cowboy Beebop.

The Worst (I've heard): Pokemon, Digimon and both versions of Dragonball Z (the first dub had a few good voices and quite a few bad. The second dub was complete crap).

I'd say Full Metal Alchemist is a good dub but I prefer the original Japanese voices so much, I don't really care for the dub enough to list it.

The fandom for the FMA dub is pretty unreal though. The way fans go crazy over Vic Mignogna at cons is nuts.

You'd think the guy was Tom Cruise or something.
