Same premise as the 80's thread! :D Nominate 3 movies from the 90's that you feel are contender's to be the best blockbuster of that decade. On Monday I'll close this thread and make a poll thread with the 10 most nominated movies. :)

My Nominations:
Jurassic Park
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
The Matrix

Oh goody, I was looking forward to this one.....:-), right here we go.....

1) Not through 'choice' (I'm not, like many, a big fan of it, but Episode 1 : TPM has to be one of them), purely on Box office and the wait that had occurred since 1983.

2) Jurassic Park, purely from the advancement of SFX and it's Spielberg's magic, once again.

3) I've never seen it and very proud of the fact but purely from the $$$$ it raked in, Titanic.

Forrest Gump (1994)

Probably one of my favorite films of all time. A touching story of life and love. Gets me in all the feels.

Aladdin (1992)

Lots of people say The Lion King is the greatest Disney film ever made, but I disagree. Aladdin had some great action sequences and the best songs.
RIP Robin Williams. Thanks for this wonderful movie.

Home Alone 2 (1992)

I remember going to the movies with my two best friends at the time and having a blast seeing this movie, which, imho, topped the original with its traps, scenery, and the amazing Tim Curry.

Definitely JP and T2. I would throw True Lies in there as well.

I'm going to just nominate what I feel were the biggest blockbusters as opposed to simply my favorite. I'll pick my favorite from the nominations in the actual poll.

Jurassic Park
Titanic
Terminator 2: Judgment Day

All three were highly popular phenomenons that had an impact that basically require them to be at least in the poll. 2 of the 3 were the highest grossing films of all-time at one point. I really wanted to squeeze Saving Private Ryan in there, but I just can't justify putting it over T2. It has to settle for the #4 spot, unfortunately.

I would say the exact same 3. All 3 are also among my favourite films and were all amazing/mindblowing at the time they came out.

Independence Day was huge. I just don’t like it as much as the others. I don’t think it’s aged as well either.

It was aged already, the day after it came out ;)
ID4’s aliens can’t compare to the Terminators (which are cool even without Schwarzenegger) or Jurassic Park’s dinos. Most of the goodness of that film is rolled up in Will Smith and Goldblum (though certainly not his best). The alien ships are cool though.

Maybe the wrong thread for such declaration, but I hated ID then, and probably now if I re-watched it. Being a serious sci-fi fan on the whole, I was never going to be satisfied with this one, and my god it's hokey BS but I get it's supposed to be, give me Mars Attacks anytime.

It was huge. The biggest movie of its year and one of the biggest of the decade. But it wasn't Jurassic Park or Titanic huge.

I also think Jurassic Park has lived on much more effectively with many of the especially younger cinemagoers who it made such an impression on back then.

Jurassic Park
The Lion King
Titanic

ID4
The Matrix
Austin Powers

Close calls for TMNT, MiB and Mrs. Doubtfire.

For adults:
Jurassic Park
T2
ID4

For kids:
Beauty And The Beast
Lion King
Toy Story

[I personally liked Aladdin over B&B, but B&B would - I think - be nominated by 90s kids overall over Aladdin]

(no specific orders)
