Best Buy Ad From 1996

"Widescreen format now available"

Sounds rad!

Free footballs with Madden 97 or with the purchase of a VCR? I can't believe we were just giving those things away. If only we knew how rare footballs would become in the future, so wasteful...

Okay, Best Buy. I'll take one Mega Man X, a Warcraft II, N.W.A Greatest Hits, and that laptop with an 810MB HDD. That oughta do it.

P.S. I had Pac-Man 2 for the Genesis, and that was a weird ****ing game.

If you can wait five years most of these products will probably be worth the wait for how much cheaper they get.

God, this reminds me how much I miss video games from this era. When at least they weren't all gray cover based shooters with gritty, chiseled protagonists and aliens.

The free cell phone in this add, was my first cell phone! I remember all the awesome features it had. It could make calls! Hell, it could even, ready for this, receive calls!! How cool are those features?!

Almost forgot, you could also use it as a door stop or paperweight, too.

That pager holds 30 pages awwwww I just bought one last month that holds 25 :(

New ZZ Top available Sept. 17. :o

That HP with the 133 mhz processor, 1.6 gig hd, 28.6 modem, 6 speed cd-rom, 14" (12.5" viewable) monitor, for $1900 sounds close to my family's first computer although ours had a bigger 3 gig drive and I sprung for a 56k modem.

Looking at how expensive that stuff was compared to how much cheaper and better it is now was quite a trip.

I can get 3 different CDs of the Macarena?!!!!
Despite having grown up with them, for a moment I was like "Why are those DVD cases so big?" Also, free 20 minute phone card with Walkman purchase!

Braveheart came in 2 tapes?! God I miss the 90s....

I was surprised not to even see any DVD's listed. I thought for sure by that time there were a few out. Even at outrageous prices, but I guess that was just a little too early for them to be mass marketed in retail.

DVD's didn't really take off until 1998 or so...

Those years are a little fuzzy. I had my own computer in 98 and got a DVD-ROM with it and my first DVD shortly after. I guess I was closer to the edge of new technology than I realized at the time.

The car stereo came with a tape deck? Now I can be jammin to my Real McCoy tape!
