What do you think are some of the best movies that shows the city, where the movie takes place, at it's finest; almost like that city is a character itself?

For example: best New York movie, best Chicago movie, best Philadelphia movie, etc.

Collateral was amazing in this aspect. The "LA at night" vibe just felt so realistic.

"Lost in Translation" I felt did a good job of showing various cities and towns in Japan. I really felt the atmosphere, which was done by adding great setting placement within the country in that movie.

Heat
The Burton and Nolan Batman films.
Blade Runner
Se7en
Predator 2
American Gangster

And the most obvious....

Sin City

New York City
Manhattan

Vienna
The Third Man

Paris
Before Sunset

Rome
The Bicycle Thief

Chicago
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Los Angeles
Chinatown

The Fugitive for Chicago, hands down.

New York City
Manhattan

Chicago
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

These are hard to argue.

Boston- Monument Ave. or known to some as Snitch. Not at its finest, but the city is almost a character and its very location specific movie

Hotties in the City 5: Cindy's Comeback....

Oh......real movies eh?

The Rock - San Francisco

London - An American Warewolf in London

Liverpool- 51st State

I sense much win in you.

Woody Allen's movies from the 70's and 80's are pretty much love letter's to New York.
