Ok since i was in a Poll faze again thought i would do a couple more this morning. The first one being a Poll on Best Director. With all the talk of Peter Jacksons District 9 and Ridley Scott maybe doing a Alien prequel film. I shall do my best to select the best Directors going. I am gonna select Directors breathing and have a pretty desent consistant director performance.
I know PJ is only popular because of LOTR but he did win an Oscar so should put him in my poll. And King Kong was an amazing film even if was a bit long.
Please wait a few minutes for the posting of the Poll.

Honorible mentioning that did not have room for as a poll option.

M Night Shamylan.

Clint Eastwood.

Zack Snyder.

Quintin Tarantino.

Brian DePalma.

Francis Ford Coppala.

Bryan Singer.

Jon Favreau.

Kevin Reynolds.

Martin Campbell.

I vote Spielberg and i apologize if i got Martin Scorsese wrong. That one name i have trouble with.

I voted Marty Scorsese.

I think Francis Ford Coppola should at least be added to the list though. Hitchcock. Brian De Palma... I mean Michael Bay's on the freakin' poll for God's sake...

Where are Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch, The Coen Bros, Sergio Leone, Akira Kurosawa and Alfred Hitchcock, etc.?

Boo to your list, sir.

You guys don't read much do ya it plainly says living directors and Hitchcock is dead and a few others you mentioned. Besides you only get so many slots and thats why all poll have the other button.

Fair point.

That said, there's still a long list of living directors better than Michael Bay, so that point still kind of stands...

Best all time? Best living? Best currently working? Have done the best work this decade? Going forward?

I'm not going to beat up the poll starter over the list, but if a poll is a starting place for discussion, what do you really want to discuss?

But... but Bay and no Fincher?!

Really? :o

I'll vote when I get my head round it. I'm momentarily conflicted.

Either way, this poll is ****ed.

Scorcese for me. So many of his films are classic; Taxi Driver, The Last Temptation of Christ, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, The Aviator and The Departed........the list goes on.

Got to be James Cameron for me, he is one of the most consistent directors out there and since Piranha II hasnt made a bad movie IMO. T1, t2, Aliens True Lies and The Abyss are all superb.

You're shooting for best "living" director, but no Sean Penn? No Coppola? No Coen Brothers? No Kubrick? No Lynch? No Stone? Yet you have Steven Sommers, George Lucas, and Michael Bay? Sorry, I can't participate in this.

This thread reminds me why I can't stand 90% of the people on this board. There is an "other" option why don't you people use it :whatever:

Anyway, I'd have to pick Cameron as my favorite. He is always doing something new.

Kubiack is overrated for he only did Clockwork Orange which was his best film and not sure what he did resently. Coen brothers couldn't lace Scorsese boot strings in my book. You guys pick alot of the same directors and there basically One hit wonders really. Again you can select whom ever ya like in the other catagory.

Yeah Kubrick has nothing on Michael Bay or The Mummy guy.

But you've got MICHAEL FRICKIN' BAY AS HIS OWN OPTION!

Matter Of Opinion really for some directors are good for entertaining people some are good for oscar winning films. The only dividing line is luck in getting a good cast for one and writers.
You can put whom ever directors you like when you make a poll. I am not familure with every single director on movies so sorry if i missed a few. There is only hundreds of able bodied directors too choose from.

Only hundreds of able bodied directors but you fell upon Michael Bay as one people might consider to be the best living director??? I mean the man is dangerously close to Brett Ratner territory...

Guerillium Del Toro?

The worst thing is not that you forgot some and/or dont know who they are. The worst thing is that you added Michael Bay and the mummy guy as 2 of the options.

this should in every decade, like best director in the 80's 90's 00's

I made a new poll and add the suggested directors. Except for the really old ones that been dead long since i was hatched.

I think Steven Spielberg has made more great classic films than any other living director.

I have high regard for James Cameron, Peter Jackson, Christopher Nolan, and Ridley Scott.

Clint Eastwood is also a good filmmaker.

Michael Bay doesn't belong anywhere near a list of best directors.
