So what are the best Dr.Strange storys out there? I'm interested in the Paul Smith or Micheal Golden issues as well......

I really liked the 1974 series better than any other I've read. (Also, the Marvel Premiere appearances right before issue #1 came out.) It's been ages since I read them, waaaay back in the 80's; but, I loved the issues that dealt with Dr. Strange vs. Dracula:

This was finally suppose to put the whole Dracula/vampire thing to rest. (Of course, years later, we still have vampires around.)

This recent TPB reprints issues #58-62, and a couple other appearances with Dr. Strange and Dracula before that story:

Cool thanks I wil definatly be searching for these.....
So has no one here ever read a Dr. Strange comic or what? Or is it just that "fantsay hero fights" are so much cooler than helping fellow fans?

The new Dr. Strange comic from BK Vaughn seems very promising, I like how the book started already.

I dont like BKV and don't see how he's "such a good writer". I've read a bunch of his stuff and it just does nothing for me. I will say the artwork looks pretty cool though.

If I were you, I'd buy four books:

Essential Dr. Strange, Vol. 1
Essential Dr. Strange, Vol. 2
Essential Defenders, Vol. 1
Essential Defenders, Vol. 2

Only Essential Defenders, Vol. 2 hasn't come out yet. That's on December 6th. But, if you bought all four volumes from Amazon.com, it would only cost you $48.41. That's over 2000 pages of Dr. Strange!!!! (I believe shipping is even free at that amount.)

I like the early stuff with Ditko's artwork. He really defined the world of Dr. Strange with his surreal images.

Personally I think the best stories are the ones in which he fights and ultimately destroys Dracula and all vampires usuing the Montesi Formula in the Darkhold!

Issue numbers and cover scans too people! lol....

Even with only one issue so far, I think The Oath is shaping up to be one of the best Dr. Strange stories. Brian K. Vaughan rules.

So you don't like Runaways?! :wow:

Nope..sorry man I just can't get behind anything this guy does. I had heard he was a good writer and checked out some of his stuff but I just can't get into it. Also his ultimate x-men run was pretty bad.

there was a one-shot, or maybe a mini that came out a few years ago with art by p. craig russell. i remember it being really good, like the old dr. strange stories were with trippy art and scary monsters.

and i do like the current dr. strange mini so far.

I thought it was Kirkman who wrote some Ultimate X-Men issues. I didn't know BKV wrote some also. Have you checked out Y-The Last Man and Ex Machina or Pride of Baghdad? Personally, I think BKV is one of the most, if not the most, creative writers/creators in comics today.

Kirkman is the current writer on uxm and he is kicking major ass. The book is as good now as it was when Millar was on it. BKV wrote it for quite awhile but it was at its worst when he was on it.

The Oath is my first Dr. Strange story, and I'm totally hooked.

I was gonna pick it up just cuz I liked the art, but it's rediculously good. Get to see this human side of Strange, not all mysterious all the time.

I'm definitely go out of my way to try to pick up the new issues when they come out.

I just have one question does the Dr have an ongoing or any comics right now because im very interested and very young so dont no anything out side the x-universe.

Dr Strange : The Oath is a 5-part limited series, and the first issue JUST came out. And it seemes pretty good. You might wanna try that.

Before playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I had always been put off by Strange. He seemed like a character who was still stuck in the seventies and needs an update badly.

I still fully believe that he needs an update, but the lovecraft influences, horror stuff and playing MU have made me decide to give him a shot. Im going to try and pick up the Dr Strange vs Dracula recent tpb and Marvel is doing a mature animated movie, much like they did for Ultimates, that looks kick ass.
