What are the best television episodes ever in your opinion?

Here's the six ones that has climbed to the top of my list: (in no particular order)

Breaking Bad: Fly
Walt & Jessie vs. Housefly.
For a whole 45 minutes.
'nuff said :woot:

X-Files: Home
Terrifying inbred family who wants to be left alone kills people who comes too close. Dont think anyone was left untouched after watching this on. Nightmares galore :waa:

The Simpsons: Marge vs. The Monorail
Story, music, humour is perfect. Alot thanks to Phil Hartmans (R.I.P.) acting and Conan O'Briens story.

Game of Thrones: Baelor
Tension right through to the end, and then a sucker punch right in your stomach!

Futurama: Jurassic Bark
Never before has a cartoon comedy show made me cry like a little school girl.

Band of Brothers: Bastogne
Easy is stuck in a cold winter forest and we follow the medics workday. The forest is the real star of this I think, beautiful and terrifying all at once.

I had a hard time picking just one per series, but here are some of my all-time faves:

Arrested Development:
"Good Grief"
"Afternoon Delight"
"Mr. F"
Like pretty much this entire show, the genius of these episodes defy a short explanation. They're simply brilliant.

Battlestar Galactica
:
-"33" - One of the most effectively stressful hours of television I've ever experienced.
-"Exodus: Part II" - I had never felt the urge to get up and cheer at my TV before until I saw this.

Mad Men: "The Suitcase"
This somehow managed to summarize all the facets of the beautiful and complex Don/Peggy dynamic over the course of one emotional rollercoaster of a 24-hour period.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer:
-"Restless" - Probably my favorite hour of television. I re-watch it whenever I'm just in the mood for a little craziness and/or greatness and it never gets old.
-"Hush" - A show known for its dialogue doing an episode about communication in which no one can speak. Genius.

Veronica Mars: "Leave it to Beaver"
This is the most satisfying season finale I've ever seen. Take note Land of Serialized Television: THIS is how you conclude a season-long arc while setting up a new story for a new season.

Angel: "Not Fade Away"
While VM may have given me my favorite season finale, I think this may be my favorite series finale ever. It ended on a bold, decidedly polarizing note while perfectly summarizing the main themes of the series.

I'm afraid to pick an episode of Breaking Bad yet, because that show keeps topping itself over and over, and it already has several of the best episodes on TV. So right now let's just say the season 4 finale, "Face Off." Sure to change once Season 5 starts, lol.

The pilot of Boardwalk Empire.

The "Germans" episode of Fawlty Towers.

In no particular order and completely off the top of my head, these are the 6 that most stick out:

Firefly - Jaynestown
Buffy the vampire slayer - The Body
Smallville - Homecoming
Dollhouse - Belonging
Veronica mars - Leave it to the beaver
Alias - Almost thirty years

Battlestar Galactica:
-"Exodus: Part II" - I had never felt the urge to get up and cheer at my TV before until I saw this.

I was going to say this episode, as well as:

Torchwood Children of Earth: Day One

Game of Thrones: Baelor

Doctor Who: Time of Angels/ Flesh and Stone. When I show these episodes to my friends, it hooks them in and makes them want more. It's also terrifying as hell.

The Office (U.S. Version) - The Injury
Michael cooks his foot on a George Foreman grill, Dwight gets a concussion. Hilarity ensues. There has never been a funnier episode of The Office.

Batman: The Animated Series - Almost Got 'Im
What can I say about this one that hasn't already been said? It's also probably the only time that Killer Croc will ever steal the show from the likes of Joker, Two-Face, etc. with this gem:
[YT]HEdg4glpCkg[/YT]

South Park - Imaginationland Trilogy
Absolutely brilliant.

Lost - The Constant
Maybe I'm biased to this one since Desmond was my favorite character, but this was a prime example of the show firing on all cylinders.

The Simpsons - Marge Vs. The Monorail
I'd have to agree with obin gam on this one. Some of the best episodes were written by Conan O'Brien. Homer Goes To College is up there for me too.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia - The Nightman Cometh
I've never laughed harder at any show than at Frank singing "You gotta pay the troll toll if you wanna get in that boy's hole." :lmao:

Breaking Bad- 4 Days Out
Nothing tops this, Walt and Jesse stranded in in the desert. Also has the best cooking montage of the whole series.

Blue Mountain State- The Corn Field pt 1 and 2
This episode is such a drastic leap of quality from the rest of season 3. It's obvious that the guys behind the show actually tried on this episode and it worked. Shame the show got canceled, would have liked to see if they would continue to step it up.

Dexter- The Getaway
This is still the most intense hour of television ever. Then that ending, no one saw that coming.

Okay, I'll play.

Gargoyles - City of Stone.
Scottish history and Shakespearan tragedy as we learn the story of Demona and Macbeth

The Spectacular Spider-Man - Final Curtain
The second season/series finale, where tragedy strikes as the Green Goblin is finally unmasked

Batman the Animated Series - I Am the Night
This was a series where the villains were most often the protagonists of the stories, so it was nice to get into our hero's head.

Avatar the Last Airbender - Ember Island Players
If you haven't seen it, I am not spoiling it.

The Sopranos - College
Tony Soprano takes his daughter to visit colleges and while far away from home, he spots a man who ratted out the Family and went into witness protection.

Firefly - Out of Gas.
I love existentialism. It's also the episode that tells you everything you need to know about Malcolm Reynolds

Dexter - The Getaway
It's already been mentioned, I'm not saying anything.

Babylon 5 - Sleeping In Light
Just... just... beautiful.

"The One Where No One's Ready" - FRIENDS

"The Parking Garages" - Seinfeld

Seinfeld: The Contest

Breaking Bad - "Crawlspace"
Battlestar Galactica - I'm cheating, but the "Pegasus Trilogy", as I call it.
Twin Peaks - "Lonely Souls"
Arrested Development - "Good Grief"
Cowboy Bebop - "Jupiter Jazz"
Futurama - "Luck of the Fryish"

The Shield- Dragonchasers. The Shield had lots of great moments, but I think it's best was when Dutch finally got his due. The set-up to it made it even more worthwhile as all these guys who had mocked and tortured Dutch over the years were watching him trying to crack a suspect. It just kept building and building till he finally dropped the bomb.

The best part isn't shown in that scene though, it's when he gets in his car and breaks down. That was powerful ****.

-"Exodus: Part II" - I had never felt the urge to get up and cheer at my TV before until I saw this.

That whole arc in that season sucks badly imo, but during those seconds "that thing" happens, it was the greatest show on earth :BA

Some of my favorites

Arrested Development: Season 2's Afternoon Delight
Glee: Pilot
Firefly: Objects in Space
Fringe: Season 2's Peter
Supernatural: Season 5's Changing Channels (Funnier than any episode of any comedy I've even seen!)
Lost: Season 2's The 23rd Psalm
Avatar: The Last Airbender: Season 2's The Cave of Two Lovers (I love this episode, I laugh every time :D)

X-Files: Squeeze

30 Rock: Tracy Does Conan

MST3K: Manos...The Hands of Fate and Laserblast

CSI: Grave Danger

Walking Dead: Days Gone By

X-Files: Home
Terrifying inbred family who wants to be left alone kills people who comes too close. Dont think anyone was left untouched after watching this on. Nightmares galore :waa:

Out all all the episodes, *this* is your fav X-Files ep?! haha, you must have a penchant for some right gruesome gory movies and stuff, holy moses. They only showed that one once on US television iirc, it is not a bad episode, good for what it is, a super-mutant Wrong Turn/Deliverance type deal, but man, the X-Files has so many imaginative eps that are not so run of the mill, I'm surprised you would have this down as your fav. I mean, it is just like that Wrong Turn movie with Eliza Dushku.

I don't know if I could pick one, UFO conspiracy wise, I would probably pick the cliffhanger episode of season two...

stand alone episode, man, I really like the Groundhog Day ep about the bank robbery, I guess I'd pick that as I've seen it so many times and never got tired of it.

The Shield - "Possible Kill Screen"
The Wire - "Final Grades" or "Middle Ground"
Deadwood - "Boy The Earth Talks To"
The West Wing - "Two Cathedrals"
The Sopranos - "Pine Barrens" or "College"
Breaking Bad - "Fly" or "Face Off"
Lost - "Pilot" or "The Constant"

Community: Remedial Chaos Theory

Scrubs: My Screwup

South Park: Imaginationland

Rome: Pharsalus tied with Kalends of February

Firefly Our Mrs. Reynolds tied with Out of Gas tied with Ariel (I really loved this show)

Glee: Mattress tied with Sectionals

The Tudors: Destiny and Fortune tied with Death of a Monarchy

Game of Thrones: Baelor so far....

My favorite shows.

Oh yes :)

I always liked the monster-of-the-week episodes more than the overarching conspiracy stuff. Sure the conspiracy and alien stories were great as well, but they tended to drag somewhat and it never felt it actually accomplished anything.

Futurama: Jurassic Bark

"Good Grief"

I agree with all of these. I'll add:

Breaking Bad - Problem Dog

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Sweet Dee's Dating a ******ed Person

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Zuko Alone

InuYasha - Enter Sango, the Demon Slayer
