I like Mortal Kombat myself, but I hope you're just being overly sarcastic.
I wouldnt say they suck but they couldnt compete with other series such as Soul Calibur and Tekken. I think the 3D MK games of the current gen were good as MK games and helped maintain the series while doing something new. But MK as the best fighting game franchise? Nah.
