They sorta tried with Street Fighter Ex, and that game wasn't that great.:csad:

I was so looking forward to Capcom Fighting Allstars. But then Capcom scrapped the project. :(

That game looks like the fighting style would be more like Tekken or Virtua fighter. If SF lost it's fighting style to go 3D I wouldn't be interested...I would want a game with the same fighting mechanics as the old ones, just updated 3d graphics and arenas. IS THAT SO HARD CAPCOM?! Gawd!

On wikipedia it say that they beta-tested the game, and because of negative feedback didn't continue.

Well, it was supposed to translate the 2D games into 3D. Just like the KOF Maximum Impact games.

I agree with Sparta, if they had to sacrafice their fighting mechanics to go 3-D, then I wouldn't want them to do it.

The mechanics of the game are why I love the SF franchise.:woot:

They better make a fast paced 3D fighting game like DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 2.

Btw, Can a 3D game ever have SF fighting mechanics?

Capcom Fighting All Stars looked promising, i for one was also looking forward to it since they were supposed to have Charlie and Strider in 3D but unfortunately, it was scrapped. BTW, Doesn't anybody remember Street Fighter EX?. That was in 3D but it wasn't such a great series....

SNK managed to bring the King of Fighters Series to the 3D plane and kept everything that made the 2D games so great. So it should be possible with Street Fighter as well. So far SNK succeeded where Capcom failed.

I even get the impression that they are mocking Capcom because the game even includes the classic mini game where you have to trash a car in a certain amount of time.

Wow, that action is fast as hell. :wow:
Capcom need to get a move on and make another SF or VS. game.

It's almost the year 2007...Next gen consoles have arrived...i'm pretty sure it's possible to make a 3d street fighter with the same mechanics as the old games.

King of Fighters MI sucked but its sequel, KOF 2006 was great. I love that fighter. Capcom defiently could have created a succesful 2D series if it was done like that

...but MVC isn't really a franchise, besides, it is basically Street Fighter.
I voted for Street Fighter with MVC/MVC2 also in mind.
Marvel vs Capcom isnt part of the Street Fighter Franchise. Its part of the Marvel VS franchise which includes X-men vs SF, MSH vs SF, MvC and MvC2

You sparked my interest in KOF 2006 lol I did some homework and the game looks sweet. Only downside I can see is that Joe Higashi and Andy Bogard aren't in the game :down

Andy and Joe rarely appear in any of the recent KoF games and it sucks bc I love Joe. Im glad Capcom put him in Capcom vs SNK bc he gets no love from SNK. Meanwhile characters like Kyo and Iori get like 2-3 versions of them in one game

As far as KOF 2006, Id check it out for a rental. It has twice the number of charactets as the first, the moves are more organic and fluid, it has a good combo system and is as close as you are going to get to a 2D KOF game in 3D. Plus the visuals are great and there's plenty of extras and modes to keep you busy. I love that there are tons of costumes for each character and not all simple pallet swaps. It takes a while to unlock them all though but I used a Max Drive save to bypass that

Depends, 2D fighters, Street Fighter without a doubt, SF3 was 2D fighting perfection. 3D's hard to decide.

Mortal Kombat is my favorite fighting series. As much as I liked Street Fighter and Tekken MK was just the best for me. I enjoyed every aspect of the early games. The fighting, the characters, the fatalities even the story. You have to admit the orginal characters in MK Scorpion, Liu Kang, Goro, Shang Tsung, Sub-Zero, etc. were awesome. Yes the later games had many stupid and repetitive swapped palettes but the originals were classic. Also SF hasn't done anything new in years. MK has continued to create games. MK Deception is a great game and if Im not mistaken one of the best fighter games of '04. And Shaolin monks is an entertaining beat em up and a nice change of pace.

IMO the MK 3D games are some of the worst fighters that are out there. I've rarely played something as slow, clunky and unresponsive as the 3D MK games. I still don't know how it ever scored that high in reviews.

Tekken gets my vote, then Mortal Kombat, then Street Fighter.

Tekken for me, as it had some semblence of a plot, hugely different charcters, and unlike Virtua Fighter, the characters weren't slow-ass heffers that only moved when they felt like it.

Never played Mortal Kombat, so Street Fighter takes my 2D vote.

Oh, and 'true' 3D fighters like DBZ suck mouldy eggs covered with salmonela.

Did you take the time to learn the combo's and aerial combat? MK Armageddon is the fastest paced of any of the 3d MK's and if you get all the combo's down, and learn how to string together some good stuff, it really isn't that slow at all. I played Tekken as well, and I think that game feels more stiff. Another fighting game that isn't so hot is Marvel Nemesis. I felt that game was pretty unresponsive. It's better on the PSP though
