This is all true, but the likes of Hulk, X-Men, Spiderman, Hellboy et al, had these problems as well, yet had more action in them, the majority of them had lower budgets as well.
I don't know about Hellboy, but the others didn't have as much to explain as ol' shellhead. Hulk, just needed a look in the past, and a gamma blast; the X-men only needed to form a team; and Spider-man only needed the spider-bite, and Uncle Ben's death.
I think that for Iron Man's origin movie, he needed to spend a lot of time testing and bettering the suit.

Iron Man vs The Jets, it was 100 times better than SR plane sequence!

^Glad to see you're back and have some glasses on too to realize IM action scenes were alot better than ANYTHING SR had to offer.

I agree. That plane sequence from SR is the most exciting action scene in the entire movie, yet it was devoid of suspense and I laugh whenever I see Lois Lane got tossed around inside the plane like a salad due to lack of seat belt, as if we will be concerned about her safety. IM's dog fight with those two F-22s, however, was very exciting and one of the best I've seen in any action movies recently.

The jet scene in Iron Man was amazing, and one of my favorite parts, but SR wasn't that bad.

^Yeah you're right SR wasn't that bad it was faaaaaaar worse. . Thanks for realizing that.

SR was a nice movie. So what if he didn't fight a supervillain, again? It was still a fairly good story. Although the Superman's kid thing, was kind of a random story plot..

When Iron Man returns to the middle east for some sweet revenge :im:

The plane sequence in SR was the only part I really DID enjoy. Still, IM vs. the Raptors wins in that fight.

I voted for the terrorists scene, from seeing him armor up and when he shots at the tank and just turns and struts away was awesome, the targeting the terrorists with hostages was cool too...mostly though, I just loved how the pieces of armor just assembled on him, was kinda funny how hard it was for the suit to come off though "I designed this to come off"

Hulk had a lot more to explain, it took the movie 40 mins to show Hulk, this wasnt the case with IM. And Hellboy had plenty to explain, yet had plenty of action in as well on a much lower budget.

SR was the better movie IMO, IM was very good, SR was GREAT.

I actually thought him armouring up was better than the actual action scene itself, the action in this movie was just VERY average to me.

I kind of agree. I mean, I thought the action was cool, but what I really liked about the movie was the development of the armor.
Have you heard about people saying, that Iron Man's suiting up scene is a rip off, of some video game trailer?

It's the same with Batman Begins, IMO. People didn't love the movie because of the action. It was all the stuff in between. It's somewhat the opposite with the Spider-Man movies. People enjoyed the movies primarily for the action sequences, but not so much for the dialogue or character scenes.

That sums it up pretty well.

If Iron Man had included an action sequence as good as the Abomb/Hulk fight in TIH, it would have been amazing....well you know, more amazing then it already was.

I enjoyed several action scene's but my favorite was Iron Man returning to Afghanistan to pay back his Ten Ring captures, that was very cool.

Why do people think Spider-man movies weren't liked for the story? Spider-man 2 is considered one of the best superhero movies ever, and in that, there would be like 20, or more, minutes between action sequences. And most action sequences, until the end, were pretty short.

One of my favourite scenes was the test flight. I really liked the score that went with it, aswell.

:word:

Personally I never saw why people thought so highly of SM2. The story was alright, but Raimi completely missed out on the duality of the character of Spider-man, and he kept Peter as the goofy nerd type when by that time he was starting to grow out of his awkward phase. Not only that but he basically interchanged Doc Ock's personality with Dr. Conners, and I've never been a fan of how he handled the MJ/Peter love story.

Despite not being a perfect adaption from the comics, Spider-man 2's story was great. Peter wasn't really that goofy and nerdy in this movie, until he quit being Spider-man, with the "Raindrops" sequence. Dr. Octavius could be seen as similar to Dr. Connors, but Doctor Octopus, was Doctor Octopus. The quality of the love story is an opinion, from both of us. Spider-man 2 is one of those movies that has hidden story elements throughout the film.

I wouldn't say it had a great story, but it wasn't horrible either. You're right, Peter didn't start being that goofy until the raindrops sequence, but that part was pretty cheesy.

Dr. Octopus basically was cut and pasted over Connors. Doc Ock never had a loving wife and he wasn't a nice guy that was taken over by his tentacles. Dr. Conners had a loving wife and he was taken over by his lizard side. Doc Ock shouldn't have been the one lecturing Peter about love, that's not who Doc Ock is. Dr. Octopus was always a self-centered jerk, and once he got his tentacles and realized how powerful he was, he only got worse.

I will agree though, that once he got his tentacles he acted very much like comic Ock, I just didn't like how they portrayed him before that, because it was completely out of character.

You're right though, mostly this all comes down to opinion, and I've never been a huge fan of SM2. I rank BB, V for Vendetta, and even X2 above SM2. I've had a problem with Raimi's portrayal of Spider-man for a while, and what it really comes down to is that I don't think he understands the character fully.
