Best martial artist/hand to hand combatant in the M.U?

Yet he regularly gets his ass kicked by Captain America and Deadpool. :oldrazz:
Really depends on the writer, and whether or not they're aware of what skills the Taskmaster has accumulated after years of training his body and copying the moves of the best that the world has to offer. When he first premiered, Tasky was going toe-to-toe with Cap and Iron Man without showing any real difficulty. At that time, it seemed to be implied that he and Cap were equals

There was also a comic a few years ago where he had actually beaten Cap hand-to-hand, and Steve only won by the end of the issue by surprising Tasky and whipping out his energy shield that he was using at the time. When you look at the skills that TM has at his disposal, like the moves and disciplines he displayed during his UDON mini, such as the agility of Spider-Man and Daredevil, and the weapons that he's got (along with Black Knight and Silver Samurai's swordsmanship, the Punisher's skill with firearms, Spidey's webshooters, etc), it can probably be hard for a writer to come up with ways to beat him with another hand-to-hand character without watering down Tasky to varying degrees. Case in point: TM's fight with Moon Knight.

Perhaps he needs to be of a physical state to perform those moves, and he was just not as drawn into the battles as he once was when it was new and exciting.

I remember when Deadpool got Taskmaster to fight him to impress all the military figures to get his merc rep back. Taskmaster did stick a sword through DPs chest, but DP is obviously unkillable.

Im suprised and ashamed nobody mentioned the big green smashing machine HULK. I mean come on what hit and most Characters r done Hes like Rampage Jackson of marvel (but less Howling) lol

Yea but his fighting prowess comes solely from his powers. He doesn't actually have a fighting technique if you know what I mean. Yea everyone else has powers, but they can fight without them.

The way I measure it, the people with the least physical augmentation (super strength and speed and stuff) are more impressive, and therefore better at hand to hand combat, than people who they can keep up with in a fight who do have powers.

So if DD can go toe-to-toe with IF, he must be a better fighter because IF's punch does a lot more damage than DD's.

Iron Fist would win, his punch is described like being hit with a train when he uses the iron fist. Blind man wouldn't know what hit him.

Voila!

Unfortunately, making a new poll means all the votes for the previous one were erased. I can either add in the standing votes and everyone will still get to vote again, or we can just treat the new poll as a do-over, basically.

Yeah, I guess. It's your thread, so it's your call however you want people to vote.

Ok Sweet. Well I reckon a top 3 sounds cool. I edited my O.P so everyone knows to vote top 3 if they want.

The way I see it, if you're going by who would win in a tournament/fight with all things considered. Physical or sensory powers included right? Okay then under those circumstances my top 3:

Champion: Virtually infinite strength, speed, agility, endurance, invulnerability and a complete master over every known fighting style in the universe. Plus over five billion years of fighting experience.

Hercules: literally invented wrestling. Millennia of experience and strength, invulnerability and endurance enough to dominate over any other hand to hand fighter.

Drax: It's been stated that as long as his mind is in his body, Drax's body is indestructible. Coupled with his currently extreme level of speed, agility and strength he'd be able to destroy most. He's also apparently a grand master of some sort of fighting style... I think it was called Grav Maga. (referenced in GotG recently)

On the other hand if you're talking about a tournament where powers are stripped and it's only skills:

Shang Chi
Iron Fist
Black Panther

All of whom are extremely formidable even without use of powers.

My choices were Shang Chi, Mantis, and Gamora because they are the ones that Marvel has stated in the past are the best. I ignored powers because there are some with a combination of super strength and super speed who would beat anyone without that combo in any sort of semi-realistic fight. Gladiator, Champion, Hyperion, Spider Man, the Surfer, and probably others that I can't think of at the moment all have a fair amount of skill and that combined with physical prowess would make them nearly unbeatable. With powers included the best would probably be Gladiator, champion, and Gamora.

I voted Cap, Shang Chi, and Mantis this time. I still personally think Cap is the best of the low-power fighters, but people have convinced me that Shang Chi ought to be up there as well, and Mantis was just insanely amazing with her martial arts around the Celestial Madonna stuff, judo-flipping Thor around and s***.

I voted for Iron Fist and Shang Chi

Shang Chi then Mantis...

but I have alot of people tied for 3rd. Guess I'll go with Cap. Seems the safe bet.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Captain America's fighting style revolves too much around his exceptional physique though.

If you gave one man of average physique the same skills as Cap and another the same skills as, say Iron Fist or Shang Chi, the guy with Cap's skills would get stomped because the skills arent that strong and he wouldnt have the super soldier serum to back it up.

In the Iron Fist issue where he and Cap fought he mentioned stuff like "His fighting style is rudimentary but his speed and agility are amazing"

Also I should point out that (If memory serves correctly) Iron Fist at one point (back when he could only use the iron fist technique two or three times a day max) fought the Wrecking Crew, the X-men and Captain America in the same day and fared extremely well against all of them.

Yea but with Cap I think you have to take into consideration his heart and courage. Out of all of them Cap probably is the least likely to give up, he would keep fighting untill his last breath.

Willpower doesnt mean much when you're knocked the **** out or dead.

:hehe: Fair point. But doesn't the super soldier serum increase Cap's durability to superhuman levels as well? I reckon he could take a right beating.
