This is why.

easily.Hands down no contest. Here is why.

Finally got around to seeing this movie yesterday.I got to say this is easily the best marvel comicbook movie ever made.Hands down,no contest.I would have to give this movie a ranking of 10 out of 10.It was excellent.Exciting from beginning to finish.Heck I would go so far as to say this movie was not only better than Iron Man "whom up to now,I always considered to easily be the best marvel comicbook movie ever made," but twice as good as it was.And thats saying a lot since no other marvel comicbook movie till then or since then, had come close to being as good as Ironman was for me.

For me,what really made this movie exceptional and amazing was the special effects, they were truly amazing and awesome.seeing the world that Thor lives in.Great story and everything to back it up as well.Asgard was amazing and the musical score was just awesome, very touching at times, just like Superman I and II were.

theres some major blockbuster movies out there that have amazing special effects but its so horribly written, you cant take it serious once you get past the special effects. a couple examples are spider-man and star wars, revenge of the sith for example.whether people here reailse it or not,the spiderman films suck and are horribly overrated.

Revenge of the sith for instance,I was really impressed with the first time I saw it mainly because of the special effects and really enjoyed it the first time. That was mainly because I was so much dissapointed with its two predecessers before it though.after a a couple more viewings though,I was able to then look past how great the special effects were and realise that its not that great a movie. That I only liked it as much as i did the first time because like i said,it wasnt near as bad as the first two and had some amazing special effects.

Iron man I still enjoyed immensely after multiple viewings so I have no doubt that I will with Thor as well.I plan on seeing this film at least 3 or 4 more times while in the theaters. This movie was so awesome,I cant believe I am saying this but I will probably actually rank it up there with the first two Superman movies and Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Both which are listed in my favorites list.I really enjoyed Ironman a lot, but not enough to where I ranked it as one of my favorites. It was funny when those Shield agents came out and said-Is this one of Starks machines?lol.

Thank god the movie trailers in this film did not let me down and the movie was every bit as great and exciting as the two trailers are on the first post of this thread.I knew from experience not to get too excited about it just because the trailers looked good.I was thinking that Sherlock Holmes for instance, was going to easily be my most favorite movie of the year that year because the trailer was so great.Turned out to be a major dissapointment though and I so much hated that film. This one however came though with flying colors.Captain America is going to have his work cut out for him trying to measure up tp Thor.

The only complaint that I really have about this movie and its very minor is that I was never a Thor fan or anything, but the few times I read a few of his comics and the few times I saw him in cartoons,I dont ever remember him smiling and being friendly like he was in the film.I always remember him being dead serious all the time when he spoke.

You got to assume there will be a sequal and somehow he will find his way back to earth again and be reunited with his lost love.

I still liked Obidiah Stane more than Loki.

I'm at a tie for the movies villian wise, but for ACTING alone I liked Loki a hair better.
What I mean is Loki wasn't/isn't at his full evil self just yet.

I made this thread in the Ironman section but have had only a couple of replys to it so I hope its okay that I put it here as well to get more.

Whoever said Iron Man was the best comic book movie? And while I love Thor, I think most folks can agree that Iron Man is a better film. Come on now. :whatever:

Okay now I finally was able to copy and paste what I posted over In Ironman.

Whoever said Iron Man was the best comic book movie? And while I love Thor, I think most folks can agree that Iron Man is a better film. Come on now. :whatever:

No you come on man.Thor was 5 times better and in comparison, makes Ironman unexciting now which yes, till now,was the best MARVEL comicbook film.

Get it right, dont put words in my mouth I said Marvel comicbook film not any comicbook film.Theres no competition at all.Thor blows all the other MARVEL comicbook films out of the water easily because of the reasons I gave.Hands down,no contest.Captain America looks good so it might give Thor a run for its money but I doubt it.Like I said,Cap is going to have his work cut out for him.I just posted my reasons now.please read them. oh and Asgard was amazing as well so was the musical score which was very touching at times just like the score for Superman I & II were and another reason why this movie easily separates itself from all other marvel comicbook films and is easily the best of them.

A number of people actually. I happen to count myself among them. There is no universe however where I think Thor is better. I don't even think Thor is better than Iron Man 2(which isn't as good as IM1). Thor was a solid, good movie. Nothing more or less. And considering the premise, that's quite a feat. GL had an equally ridiculous premise and see what a cluster***k that turned out to be.

Thor had good parts but his story while exiled was quite poor.

The "romance" with Portman's character was one of the worst ones in any superhero movie. It was simply nothing. And Portman's female friend was just a bunch of subpar jokes glued together. You could have written her off and the movie doesn't change (well, actually it would have become a better movie).

Now, I concede that Hemsworth has some charisma, but has nothing on Downey Jr.

Loki was very good. And so was Odin, the first battle. But the rest was average or just below average.

Now, Thor vs Iron Man 2? Thor rules.

Thor was 5 times better in comparison?

You go on to make no comparisons.

"Oh and Asgard was amazing as well so was the musical score was very touching at time just like..." --Yeah okay I've had enough. Type in complete sentences when trying to portray your incoherent thoughts. Maybe then I'll listen to your "Thor is better than Iron Man" argument.

X2

move on

:funny: The White Rat might disagree by saying something like:
"Well Thor blows it out of the water because Thor is awesome and has a hammer and golden hair and the music is awesome and I like Thor and do you like Thor cause I really like Thor!"

I didn't like the first Iron Man movie that much, think it has the most bad@$$ origin for a superhero, but never thought it deserves being a top-tier
Thor is made out of awesomeness, and one of the original story writers is JMS (don not translate it the way you think it means if you think it means JMS can do no wrong, I meant JMS is a brilliant writer for Thor)
Sure he wasn't alone in making the script, and for screenplay it was edited

You ignored Marvel

X2

move on
I did enjoy this one more than the other 2, still do, even with me being now tired of the mess in the X-Books I'm taking a leave off of them

I'm still sticking with The Incredible Hulk, that movie was really made to please me as a fan of the angry green giant

yeah a huge number of people found Ironman when it came out to easily be the best MARVEL comicbook movie ever made which was true at the time,no contest, till Thor now of course.:woot: Thor Blows all the other marvel comicbook films out of the water easily.theres no comparison. But thats okay you like Ironman better, its a great marvel comicbook movie also.

X2

move on

I will see your X2, and raise you a Spider-man 2.

Either way, I still consider both of those better than IronMan...and Ironman is better than Thor.
Thor was good, but there are a number of MU movies I think are better.

For me, Iron Man and Thor are tied. Each had qualities I loved. For Marvel Studios movies, the best (imo) is a tie between Iron Man and Thor. For best Marvel movie, it's X2/X-Men First Class/Spider-Man.

ok so thor is the best marvel movie for you so far.thats great.thats fine.but trying to force it down peoples throats like its a fact is not fine

I like Thor a lot but it has some pacing issues and despite Natalie Portman trying hard the Jane relationship was pretty bland.

I rate it under Iron Man but above IM2 and TIH.

This thread is useless, as you don't need a thread for your opinion. So, I am going to change the title of this thread and make it into a discussion on which was the best Marvel Studios film, since you focused on Thor vs Iron Man.

Plus, you'll get more traffic this way.

As for the thread discussion, I prefer Thor to Iron Man. Iron Man had better pacing, yes. But, I feel like Tony Stark's arc as a character ends when he walks off the press conference proclaiming no more weapons. From then on, he has little change as a character. Thor didn't do that. Thor had an arc from beginning to end. Also, Loki was a superior villain to Obediah Stane. I would say Loki was my favorite comic film villain not named Joker. The romance in Iron Man was more natural, while the romance in Thor is brief. But, the actors pull it off.

It is close, but my preference is Thor.

Given the new topic, I rank 'em as follows

Iron Man
Incredible Hulk
Thor
Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 is the definite weak link of the bunch...and even still, it's not really a bad movie, just kinda empty.

In all honesty, I may have to concede that Iron Man is the best, but I enjoy The Incredible Hulk the most. It holds up to repeat viewings better for me. But I'm holding a LOT of hope for Cap.

I'd rank them thusly:

Iron Man(9.5/10)>Iron Man 2(8.5/10)>Thor(7.5/10)>The Incredible Hulk(7/10)

I'd go:

Thor - 4.5/5
Iron Man - 4/5 (though it is somewhere between a 4 and a 4.5)
The Incredible Hulk - 4/5
Iron Man 2 - 3.5/5

The best Marvel movies are:
7/10 - X-Men: First Class and X-2
7.7/10 - Iron Man
8.2/10 - Spider-Man 2

I must warn all of you that i never give a 10 because i didn't see a movie that i considered perfect so don't be scared for me a 7 means the movie is great fun, with good story and characters.
If it was up to me i would give Thor a 6.5 or 6.8.
It has flaws but it was better than it could have been, much better.
