1-Hela
2-Vulture
3-Grandmaster
4-Ego

All so good. But Hela had to come out on top because she had everything:

1-motivation/backstory
2-costume
3-acting
4-great fight scenes
5-threat level

My only problem with Vulture was that I got his motivation for being upset...but not for why he decided to build a bird costume. Felt like they skipped over that part. Otherwise great...best scene of the year was he and Peter in the car.

Grandmaster was so Goldblumy that there is nothing there not to like. I was a little unclear on his backstory and power level though.

Ego was great most of the time but I was a little disappointed at the final scenes.

Not only the best year ever for CBMs, but maybe the best year for villains. Marvel villains anyway. The other two studios didn't do very well there.

I never agreed with the "marvel villain problem" especially when other comicbook films seem to have worse villains that don't get as much backlash.
That's just nitpicking to try and find a "flaw" in Marvel since they have done so well. It's like the other fake complaints like "all Marvel movies are the same". (sure...Winter Soldier and Thor 3 are just alike)

The two problems with the complaint are:

1-having a great villain is never a big deal in movies. Lots of great movies have a forgettable villain. Heck...the CBM movie that ushered in the genre had a weak villain who was a joke most of the time. Superman: The Movie is still great though so it can't matter that much.

2-Marvel is doing better than other studios with villains. Compare the villains in the DCU to the villains in the MCU and it's not close. And look what Fox did with Dr Doom, Galactus, and Apocalypse. Three of the all time great villains and they wasted all of them.

If Marvel Studios do the smart thing and bring her back then she still easily can. One of the reasons that Loki is such a popular villain is because he was allowed to develop over three (now four) movies rather than being a one and done character, let's hope that Marvel learned something from that.
Agreed. I was very frustrated with Marvel killing off the villains in every movie for a while there. (Supposedly "no one dies" in Marvel)

Seein her play Hela made me hope they bring back Hugo Weaving's Red Skull along with her and put them in a movie with Andy's Klaw. That'd be dope!
And how about Ronan too? And if Disney buys Fox they could bring in Ian McKellen's Magneto as well for a full on LOTR reunion.

Like I said before, I love Pace as an actor but I hated his performance as Ronan. That was just bad casting.

I'd be happier seeing them on Screen with Dormammu or against Dr. Strange AkA Smaug.

I wouldn't care for McKellan to come back as Magneto. Great actor but I wouldn't wanna see anybody from the foX-men flicks come back to play their roles. Maybe it'd be nice to see them in different roles in the MCU but I have no interest at all in seeing them play these characters some more. Maybe McKellan can be the voice of Galactus, or the Living Tribunal, or maybe he can play characters like Silvermane or Stan Lee or something.
I'm not thrilled with the idea of Disney getting X-men but thats me.

It'd be dope if they brought back Karl Urban doh.

I agree. Hela may be a force of destruction, but her motivations were also made clear, as illustrated by her history as Odin's first child. Also, her character was helped by some nice witty dialogue, which was delivered masterfully by Cate Blanchett.

Hela was big contrast to Malekith in the previous Thor movie. Not only were Malekith's motivations barely touched on, but he was also very boring as a villain. Malekith had little to no real personality, whereas Hela had tons of personality and was overflowing with deliciously wicked charisma.

That's a perfect way to put it. Well done, sir.:crso:

HELLA all the way
Too powerful and beautiful, along with outstanding fighting skills and intelligent.
