Okay, some of the best moments in cbm's are when the hero and villain are kicking the **** out of each other. However, sometimes conversations between the hero and villain can be even more satisfying. Usually a cbm gives us chance where the action settles down and the good-guy/bad guy have a chat, you know its good when you get chills afterwards.

As for me, my all-time favourite is the Dark Knight, Batman - Joker interrogation scene (of course it includes some ass-kicking as well).

At the beginning Batman's interrogating the Joker but as the scene progresses it's really Batman who has to answer the hard questions and eventually loses his cool.
(The final conversation between Batman and the Joker is pretty good, but very one sided).

Some other favourites are:

- Thor and Loki in TDW (with the Cap cameo) it's the highlight of the film

- Superman to Lex Luthor in Superman the movie, before Lex launches the missiles "Is that how a warped brain like yours gets its kicks Luthor, by plotting the death of innocent people?" " No, by causing the death of innocent people."

- Superman and Zod, in Man of Steel (the dream sequence)

- Xavier and Magneto's chess games (mostly in the first Xmen film, but also in DOFP )

To be honest, it was something that's been sorely missing in all the Spider-Man movies so far - there are few good moments with Pete and Norman Osborn in Spider Man one, but not a really memorable conversation. The closest is the chat Harry and Pete have in SM 3 before they kick the crap out of each other.

I'm sure there are heaps of other great ones, what are yours ???

I agree about the TDK Joker/Batman interrogation.

Then you have Joker/Batman in the belltower in batman 89. I like how Batman is out for revenge, and Joker is mocking him all the way.

Batman and Penguin "you're not mayoer yet" in Batman Returns. All Batman and catwoman scenes in this movie, including the Bruce/Selina dance.

The Batman and Joker interrogation room scene in TDK.
Bane breaking Batman in TDKR (which was a combo of talking and ass kicking).
Ra's and Bruce in Wayne Manor before Ra's burns it down in BB.

Batman/Penguin is a favorite of mine; "What do you want?"

Unforgettable, if not extremely philosophical, Loki and Hulk (in Avengers I):

(From IMDb)
Loki: Enough! You are, all of you are beneath me! I am a god, you dull creature, and I will not be bullied by...
[Hulk flattens Loki with repeated smashes into the floor]
The Hulk: Puny god.

LOL ! Not quite the great philosophical debate or sparkling dialogue I was thinking of, but it's damn hilarious, and we've all been waiting for Hulk to do that to somebody.
:)

Hands down i would go with like most have said the interrogation scene in TDK! that was some deep metaphysical underlining stuff going on in that!
but my 2nd Favorite would be this from the 1st Punisher

Man! you talk about giving me the chills! its a shame that movie didnt have a better antagonist than travolta and did better at the box office. i dug Jayne as the Punisher!

Spartacus and Crassus in the finale of the tv show.

Aw man Zod's dialogue at the end of Man Of Steel right before he reached his breaking point and went psycho

"Look at this, we could have built a new Kyrpton in this squalor. But you chose the humans over us. I exist only to protect Krypton, that is the sole purpose for which I was born. And every action I take no matter how violent or how cruel is for the greater good of my people. And now I have no people. My soul, that is what you have taken from me!"

Pretty much Batman and Joker in The Dark Knight. Both conversations are fantastic and I think genuinely can stand up to something like this:

None else come close. But I still always enjoy the little chats Magneto and Xavier have over chess boards. This is doubly true for the first film as well as First Class near the end.

^ Absolutely

The dialogue and delivery in this scene is one of my favourites in all CBMs.

Two contrasting people. Enemies, but enemies who don't wish to be enemies but have to as their own personal beliefs drive them in different directions.

It's incredibly rare to have such enemies be so close yet so far apart. Xavier vows to always be there to stop Magneto and yet Magneto on some level wishes for that as it means he can meet again with his best friend but also his sworn enemy.

Such a fascinating and interesting dynamic. Imo they are the definition of the hero and villain completing each other, without the other each would find themselves a little lost, they keep each other in-check so to speak.

Probably blasphemous, but, yeah, I like that scene more than the Dark Knight interrogation scene.

I second all these choices.

Anything with Professor X and Magneto.

I'd have to say that the Prof X / Magneto chats are the best in
any Marvel film. What's great is that Stewart/McKellen have been
amazing, and McAvoy/Fassbender are also very very good
( sorry, Stewart and McKellen are just the best).

Nice consistency Marvel, very nice !

I also prefer Stewart and McKellen. But McAvoy and Fassbender are also very very good for their portrayal of Prof X and Magneto and their interaction with each other are also really really good.

Batman interrogating scenes in Nolan's movies

I love the Doctor Doom and Thing talk in the first Fantastic Four movie

Yes, that movie did happen
And yes, that was Doctor Doom

Green Goblin/ Spider-Man in Rami's first film. When Goblin tries to get Spidey to join him. Honorable mention the hero/choice speech on the bridge.
