Who do you think the best villain featured in the Pirates of the Caribbean series is?

Davy Jones had the coolest look but barbossa has the better story. I went with Davy Jones though because eventually barbossa became a bit lame

I can say Blackbeard was the worst. Jones and Barbossa are tied for first, with Beckett in second. Both Jones and Barboss had great stories and were well-acted.

I hope we get a good villain in the fifth one. Jolly Roger would be a good choice.

Pirates of the Caribbean has had some great villains with the exception of Blackbeard. Barbossa and Davy Jones were amazing, but i went with Jones, while Cutler Becket & his right hand man were also well handled, even though they're outshined by the top 2 villains. Blackbeard was way too disapointing, with all the time these people are given, can't they come up with better scripts? It's getting depressing how many interesting concepts and ideas go into this franchise, yet are never used to their full potential.

By the way, you need to edit your post and add images that work.

My ratings go:

Davy Jones > Barbossa > Cutler Beckett > Blackbeard

While not much is spoken of Beckett, i enjoyed his character, i think he was a worthy villain and interesting in his oun right. Blackbeard had plenty of potential, but it seems like in the 4th film they didn't try enough, films 2 and 3 ended up being rushed, and while i really enjoyed Dead Man's Chest, At World's End just became a mess, with this said, in the making process of those movies you could see the excitement in the people making the movies, throuing an idea after another, with the 4th film they took it too much for granted an lacked enough energy or imagination.

Barbossa.

My misgivings with DMC and AWE aside, I flipped my **** when he appeared at the end of DMC. Nobody does pirate like Geoffrey Rush.

Davey jones was amazing. He deserved a much better movie than what he got.

Barbossa. It helps that he was the villain (and not a sadly watered down good guy) in the only genuinely great movie in the series. Davy Jones was pretty good too, but the mediocrity of the second and horribleness of the third hold him back from being a truly great character.

And Blackbeard? A great figure in history played by a great actor, and it came out to....that? Yikes. He was outshines by the mermaids.

To be fair, the Barbossa from the sequels was also a lot of fun, he was one of the few things i liked in the 4th film

My thoughts exactly, but I still enjoy AWE immensely despite its clutter and mess.

I enjoy AWE and bits of OST, i just think that it's a shame they've gotten so lazy with the scripts, even the marketing seems to be a little tamer, like the priority in this franchise, as not many would be surprised if the 5th film was cancelled. 2006 was probably its highest point, there was a lot of hype and merchandising surrounding the 2nd and 3rd films, i don't remember the same going for the 4th film.

What i think this needs is Mission Impossible 3/4 and Skyfall type of treatment, where you take this franchise that hasn't seen a hit for a while, and give it a strong movie to get interest back. I know Disney has the resources, so it would be great to actually see them focus on giving a good story to their oun franchises, i'm tired of only seeing them giving that special focus to things they bought like Star Wars and Marvel.
