Everyone knows how... eh... not brilliant the Daredevil movie was. I just recently watched the Director's cut and while it's still not great I was amazed what they removed- without spoiling it they seemed to have decided to remove the plot from the theatrical release. Maybe if they'd removed some of the sillier elements and replaced them with the director's cut mystery storyline they'd have less of a mess on their hands.

Rant over.

Q:Is there any other extended\directors cut movies that really save the movie rather than add a few moments of dialogue or FX?

Great thread idea.

Daredevil DC is a COMPLETELY different film to the theatrical cut. A far superior film which manages to capture the true essence of the character far better than what was released. To do this day, I have said, if the DC version had been released at the cinema we would not be having any discussion on why the Daredveil film was perceived as a failure or box office 'bomb'. A sequel would have been granted.

I love the DD film, okay, the villians are still not well portrayed, particuarly Bullseye but the end fight between DD and Fisk is more realistic to a degree and the expansion of why MM is DD is better displayed.

I terms of how different the CV to the DC cut is, this is the best answer to the thread in terms of how the expanded version shows the film in a 'rounder' view.

However, purely from a personal feeling point of view, I love the Extended Version of Superman : The Movie.

The easy one is Superman II: The Donner Cut, which while unfinished is still superior to the Lester Cut. Notably it cuts out a lot of the sillier stuff, and restores the Kal-El/Jor-El relationship which makes up the heart of the film. They are basically two different movies.

The Wolverine's extended cut is also substantially better with a lot more grit and violence, and the addition of a new fight scene in the last act which was sorely needed.

Superman;Extended edition
The Wolverine director's cut
Superman II:The Donnor cut
Daredevil:The Director's cut

Watchmen : Ultimate Cut, purely from a 'completist' view of graphic novel transfer in the film's asthetic.

Enjoyed the Watchmen Ultimate cut. Also recently watched the extended version of Man of Steel. This was much better on second viewing but I think this had more to do with my expectations rather than any added scenes. I couldn't immediately pic out what was added. I take it nothing is removed these days unlike the Donner cut of the original Superman.

1. Watchmen-Ultimate Cut
2. Daredevil-Director's Cut
3. Wolverine-Director's Cut
4. Superman-Donner Cut

There's a director's cut to be made of Batman Forever, if WB will pony up the money. It can be done.

Extended cut for Man of Steel? I don't recall them releasing one.

Aside from one scene, I liked what they added back into Spider-Man 2.1. The JJJ scene where he's in Spidey's suit was a bit much, but extended fight scenes with Doc Ock was worth it.

The Director's Cut of DD is definitely a huge improvement over the theatrical but I wish a scene or two had been cut along with the others. Primarily that scene where Garner is warming up her skills stabbing the bags of sand. Hahaha, the scene was forced and fairly godawful. We get it, she's supposed to be this badass, even though up 'til that scene she's pretty much an every day girl. I still flip flop if I want to own the Director's Cut on Blu-ray or not. It's selling for cheap and I used to own it but gave it away because I didn't think I would watch it much. I kind of want to see it again now. :woot:

Also, that fight at the end with Kingpin was so much better. In the theatrical cut there were scenes you knew were missing due to the ****** edits. Those few seconds of footage put back in made some of the attacks or reactions to attacks actually make sense.

< Goes over to blu-ray- shakes head>

My bad- it isnt extended- it's limited edition. Rookie mistake- explains why I didn't see much extra stuff though :yay:

No problem. You had me excited though. :woot:

Just a piece of advice. You should put those links as your sig instead of in the body of your posts. When replying I keep having to delete those.

Not sure if you already know how but go to "User CP" then "Edit Signature".

Daredevil's. It turned a mediocre movie into a good movie.

Daredevil is one of the most frustrating films out there. It wasn't as if they made a bad or mediocre film. They made a good film. And then they edited it into a mediocre one. I just don't understand the logic in that.

I wish Sam Raimi wouls do a DC for Spiderman 3. I feel like with some cutting and editing that movie couls be largely improved.

One I would like to see is Incredible Hulk. There was a lot of stuff cut from that film. I think the DVD has something approaching 40 minutes of deleted scenes.

Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker DC is incredible.

Out of the ones I've seen:

1. Watchmen: Director's Cut (Ultimate Cut is good too, but I prefer the Director's Cut)
2. The Wolverine
3. Superman: The Movie
4. Superman II Donner Cut (But it's been so long since I've seen it)
5. Spider-Man 2.1 (Kind of unnecessary)

I have not seen the director's cuts for Daredevil or The Punisher (2004).
