If I'd rank them it would probably be...

    1. Logan
    2. Infinity War
    3. Civil War

With Honorable mentions to Thor Ragnarok. Good movie but hated how they treated Surtur, and that the whole Movie is basically treated like a joke.

Yeah, a very easy rewatch. So many good supporting characters in it and we finally get Beast Mode Thor and a top villain.

Yes I am very glad that this has changed and that so called rule has been proven wrong. As ever it was always just about execution and there was no inherent reason that a third film needed to be crap.

In regards to the poll, I just noticed that Justice League is on there. Do people really consider it to be the third film in a trilogy? Personally, I wouldn't. In that case, you might as well consider The Avengers to be the third Iron Man movie or The Winter Soldier to be the third Captain America movie, etc. Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman and Justice League tell an over-arcing story but it's not really a trilogy. Superman is barely in JL anyway.

The superhero genre is the one genre where you not only great sequels (X2, Superman II, Spider-Man 2, Dark Knight, Winter Soldier etc) you also get great third instalments, which is virtually unheard of elsewhere (except Return of the King and Goldfinger).

Justice League was indeed intended to be the third part of a five movie cycle.

The good third installment is a recent thing and also it isn't like we are talking about a lot of series here that were flawless leading up to that. TDKT is the only one I'd say can make the argument for great quality throughout.

Ah, I voted for TDKR before I realized Logan was an option.

Logan is better, but I'm glad to give the Nolan trilogy a boost here.

    Ranking:

    1. Logan
    2. The Dark Knight Rises
    3. Civil War (More Avengers 3 though, to be honest)

I have to give CA:Civil War a razor-thin edge over Infinity War. While IW is greater in scale and Thanos is a far superior antagonist to the INO version of Baron Zemo, Civil War is a little thematically deeper than IW.

Er....I didn't say it wasn't...third instalments of any superhero series were rare until recently anyway.

I didn't say we were...how many movies series' are flawless anyway?

Agreed, though there are a lot of caveats now. No MCU character made it to a trilogy without at least one major appearance elsewhere. There's a lot of films I wouldn't immediately consider the third, though it's great to see so many good ones on the list. That curse is well and truly broken.

Cap and Batman are basically the only two superheroes that can say they have a great trilogy.

I guess the next most likely contender after those two would be the Avengers.

My favorite third installment is Ragnarok.

The Best would have to be Logan, IMO.

This is a really hard question these days. I think that Ragnarok, Logan, Infinity War and Civil War are all very strong candidates. I think this might be a case where I'll have a different answer on any given day.

For his central performance alone, Reeve is magnificent in S:III, Superman III.

Absolutely. He not only plays a more assertive Clark Kent, he not only plays a corrupted version of Superman who is genuinely scary...but his performance as the genuine Superman is IMO the best ever. Reeve has so much confidence and authority in the role at this point, and he's also in even better shape than he was in the previous movies.

I'd give it to Ragnarok based on the films that preceeded it and how different and reinvigorating it is for the franchise.

Now THIS is a tough match-up! If we were going by most-improved, I'd go with Ragnarok, because that was miles above the other Thors. However, it's not most-improved, and Infinity War, as much as I love it, will inevitably be affected by its 2nd part, so until A4 comes out, I don't have a final verdict on how I feel about IW on the whole. So now I'm stuck between TDKR and Civil War. I really did love TDKR, just...not as much as the TDK. So while a good film, ultimately, it felt like a step down.

Civil War gets my vote because it doesn't feel like a step down from its predecessor, as it has a more powerful 3rd act where it really sticks the landing. And because it beautifully completes the patriot-to-insurgent arc for Cap that M&M/The Russos wanted to tell and again manages to at least match its predecessor in quality, I feel its the most complementary film on the list to the trilogy its serving. That trilogy, imo, when put together, says pretty much everything there is to say about who Captain America is - past, present and future. If I ever want to show someone why I love Cap as a character, all I have to do is show them those 3 movies and my job is done. Even with TFA in there, it still feels like one complete journey/experience. And for that reason, while I'm sure a reboot is inevitably down the line, I think it will stand as the "definitive" take on Captain America for a very long time.

Wonderful to see TDKR racking up the votes with the other big names (currently even ahead of Civil War). Just reaffirms my belief that the criticisms against it come from a vocal minority here.

Anyways, While TDKR is dear to me, I will ultimately cast my vote for Logan as the best made movie in this poll.
