The thing that sucks terribly is that there was one band fronted by a black-haired girl, with a trumpet and stand-up bass, a Black guy from San Fran, and,...others, that were SO amazing, but I can't remember their names and their tapes are locked up securely in my storage unit.

I loved the Wooden Slats from the 90's.*shrug*
They wouldn't even record an album until they were all peaking on LSD, but they were such "old-hands" at it that they could still play.

I like "Donna the Buffalo" - they are not so much underground though as simply obscure.

Underground hardcore the Best it's my roommates band..seriously my favourite hardcore band going today..that i would consider "underground" (they used to have a myspace..but looks like it's gone)

for rap...maybe Sage Francis or Immortal Technique..but not too sure how "underground" they are...

As far as underground rap, I don't think they're underground, but I love DangerDoom.
