O.K. folks, with Hallowe'en coming I want to know which movies you think are the best and the worst "Ghost" movies (any movie that had a ghost appear in it for any length of time).

Some of the best (in my opinion):

Ghostbusters
Casper
The Frighteners
Ghost

Some of the worst:

Ghost Ship
Ghost Dad

Some of the best I've seen:

*Poltergeist I and II
*The Haunted
*13 Ghosts
*The Others
*Ghost Ship

Best:
Ghostbusters 1+2
Frieghtners
Sixth Sense
Stir of Echoes
Fallen (Not sure if this one counts, I guess he was a ghost taking over people's bodies.)

Worst:
13 Ghosts maybe? Haven't really seen too many ghost movies I didn't like.

There have been SO many bad ones recently... some that come to mind:

The Fog (remake)
The Grudge (and most likely, The Grudge 2)
Urban Legend 3
House on Haunted Hill
The Haunting (remake)
Silent Hill

Oh yah, I totally forgot about the Grudge. That movie was hilarious.

Best...
Ghost
Ghostbusters
The Frighteners
Thirteen Ghosts
Poltergeist 1 & 2

Worst...
Boo
Ghosts Of Mars
Ghost In The Machine

Best:

1) The Shining
2) Ghostbusters
3) Ghost
4) Poltergeist
5) Casper

Worst:

Can't think of any I've seen that were particularly bad.

The Shining, Poltergeist, Ghost, Ghostbusters, and The Sixth Sense are some the best that come to mind.

There are too many atrocious ones to even think about naming, but Ghost Ship, the 13 Ghosts remake, and The Fog are givens.

3 GREAT ghost story movies:
"The Innocents" with Deborah Kerr. Screenplay by Truman Capote.
"The Uninvited" with Ray Milland
"The Ghost And Mrs. Muir" with Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison

Is that the one with the captain's ghost? I remember seeing that one with my mom, it was quite good.

Ghosts Of Mars

Its cheesy but I love Ghosts of Mars, its really fun if you get over the silliness. Not exactly a ghost movie though.

My favs are
Ghostbusters
The Shining
The Changeling

and my very fav ghost movie and one of my top horror movies of all time - The Sentinel!!! Alot of people dont know about this movie and the ones that do dont seem to like it. I dont know why but it scares the s*** out of me and Ive seen it a hundred times.

There was this other movie that I used to have called Ghosthouse. It was Italian and had a little clown doll and it scared me so bad.. I could never make it past the 30 minute mark, and then one night when I finally did it turned into the worst movie ever.

Ghost Dad is funny

Some of the best, that I have seen.

Candyman (I'm Clive Barker's pimp)
Christine
A Christmas Carol
Ghost
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
The Others
The Grudge
Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
The Ring
The Shining
The Six Sense
Skeleton Key

The worst that I've seen.

Gothika,good lord.

There are so many on my list that I need to see. :csad: Yet I know I'm missing something.

^ Gothika. Now THAT was trash. Good one, tzarinna.

The Frighteners is certainly the worst one I can think of ever seeing. Maybe even worse than Ghost Dad.

The best ghost-related media are various episodes of Unsolved Mysteries that scared the ever-loving crap out of me when I was a wee lad.

Thank you!!! I knew I was forgetting some important ones.

Christine is not really a ghost tale, the car is "possessed" or evil when it was created, not haunted.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, again not really a ghost tale. They were cursed not dead.

The only REALLY good ghost movie I can think of is The Shining. Nothing comes close to it. Except for maybe The Others, Ghostbusters, The Ring and Casper, but barely, yet still good.

The worst ghost movies off the top of my head are The Ring 2 and Gothika, easily.

Faves
The Shining
The Sixth Sense
The Ring
Ghost
Poltergeist
Ghostbusters

Oh yeah, I forgot about What Lies Beneath. That's definitely a contender for the worst in my book.

I love the Frighteners. I can see why someone would dislike it, but not THAT much. Its not Ghost Dad bad, its kind of fun IMO.

What Lies Beneath was borrrrrring..

What Lies Beneath was an insult to the audience's intelligence. It presents itself as a murder mystery, but there's one problem. THERE ARE ONLY TWO MAIN CHARACTERS! And since one is obviously the protagonist, it isn't hard to figure out who the villain is. It simply preys on the idea that since we're not used to seeing one particular star play a villain, that we'll never suspect this person, even though the evidence is right there from the beginning.
