Many wonderful things came out of 1986. The 3 most notable though would have to be Transformer: The Movie, Top Gun, and my birth. The first 2 having produced the two most classic soundtracks of the 80s. But which is supreme? For many, this impossible decision could come down to two songs: The Touch and Danger Zone. But you decide.

Transformers FTW. Screw Kenny Loggins.

I never watched Tranformers as a kid. Hell, I wasn't even born yet, so I'll go with Top Gun.

Do i dare to be stupid and vote for Top Gun. Get it?

I actually have both soundtracks and their both cool, most people tend to like just Kenny Loggins' songs which have been played to death, I prefer 'Mighty Wings' by Cheap Trick.

Two words: Danger Zone

Top Gun all the way.

I'm not a big fan of the Top Gun sountrack but, at least it had some classic songs everyone has heard of(Great Balls of Fire, Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay, You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling) and the top gun anthem is a classic.

I've never understood the fanscination with the Transformers sountrack. The only songs I liked were the instrumental ones. The sountrack never got good reviews by music magazines like rolling stone. I'm a fan of heavy metal but, the rock songs on the album were annoying and very distracting. If the creators of this film wanted good rock music why choose a bunch of unknown cheesy bands when Metallica, Guns and Roses, and the Scorpions were available. IGN's review of the sountrack sums up how I have always felt about this sountrack.

I've gotta go with Top Gun. The Touch is nice for nostalgia, but there's just not enough in there to even begin to compete with those great classics from Top Gun.

I feel the necessity for acceleration! I'll probably say top gun for pop culture reasons but the cover of Transformers' theme song is the greatest since the Ramones did sPider-Man.

Transformers purely for the unnecessary hair metal guitar solos that are hilarious. Plus you got the touch works as an uplifting, fist pump in the air soundtrack for just about any 80's movie montage you can put it with.

oops i voted transformers thinking michael bays transformers

damn.... danger zone vs. the touch?

that's a toughy... i'll have to go with the touch, though. that song is inspiration incarnate.

ill go with top gun, purely because the background score by Harold Faltermeyer is so awesome, lots of pumping music to suit the action!

and the songs are great too.

Tranformers score is also quite great, done by Vince DiCola who made the Rocky 4 score.
In fact, some of the music in the score is almost like alternate versions of the Rocky 4 music!

I didn't like Top Gun, but loved TF: The Movie but we have to be objective. How many breakout hit songs came out of Transformers? Dare To Be Stupid is the only one close, and that one arguably was only used in the movie, but did not originate in it.

Top Gun was the first movie I ever saw in the theater. So I gotta go with Mave and Goose.

How could you not love that soundtrack?? It went perfect with the movie.

Kenny Loggins= 80s soundtrack GOLD.
