Drama Better Call Saul! - Breaking Bad Spinoff A Go At AMC - Part 1

Awesome series finale and I honestly couldn't have pictured a more fitting and bittersweet end. Like others have already mentioned none of the previous characters in this universe have done any serious time which is actually pretty surprising when you think about it, and it only makes more sense that it would happen to Jimmy.

All of it felt earned IMO and they did a fantastic job with all the cameos this season as well. Maybe others really noticed the aging thing, but I swear Cranston hasn't aged a bit since Breaking Bad ended.

Could not agree more. Absolutely loved everything about this finale.
We always knew that Walt was lying to himself when stating “I’m doing it for my family” // no matter how bad Jimmy got, I don’t think his love for Kim diminished… clearly that’s how they wanted us to feel about “Saul” in the end. Truly heartbreaking, yet beautiful.

ALSO, that watch shot during that flashback was woah.

While I still prefer BB overall as a show I will say I think Better Call Saul’s series finale is far superior to BB’s series finale. Phenomenal stuff all around. I got chills watching the last scene as I know I’m not just watching the end of this series but the entire Breaking Bad universe that started over fourteen years ago. It’s an end of an era.

Having watched the entire two series over the last 4 months, I see it like this. Breaking Bad started at a 7 and ratcheted up to a 10, which it pretty much was for the last 3 seasons. Better Call Saul started at a 9.5 and peaked at a 10 every season.

Two very different shows, with two of the best main characters there has been. If I had to pick one, it would be Saul, because I'd rather hang with Jimmy, Kim, and Mike then anyone else. But thankfully, I didn't have to choice.

Also, I'm glad that Saul had the same ephiphany as Walt, and in the process proved he was the man I always thought he was. Also, confirmed both shows as love stories.

Jimmy/Kim and Walt/Himself.

I admit that this was an unfair reaction but I was initially taken aback at how understated the finale was, I guess I was expecting an "explosive" finale. However, it was still very satisfying as an end for not just BCS but Breaking Bad as well.
When I sit back and remember that for awhile the Jimmy subplot didn't have the cartel or the explosive action, and that the finale is the culmimation of everything Jimmy as a character went through then this finale REALLY works. I read a comment that also really gave me perspective which was what we witnessed was Jimmy McGill testifying against Saul Goodman and no longer running away from the truth about himself. Plus it also dealt with Marie, which was an inexplicable loose end that Breaking Bad left dangling, somethin that always bugged me about that finale. I really loved how they utilized Marie and Gomez' wife as redemption for the time he got Lalo off for murdering the Travel Wire kid which devastated that family.

I just witnessed one of only 2 of the very best shows I've ever watched, the other being The Wire. However this show had a much better and consistent final season. I need time to stew if this is my favorite show ever but it's definitely between this and The Wire.

I was only upset when it ended, just cause I wasn't emotionally ready for it to be over in that moment. The more I thought about it, it's the right and perfect ending for the show and character.

Kudos to Gilligan and co. for managing to make lightning strike twice. The 126 hour Albuquerque saga, with nearly all of it being top shelf TV, is a miraculous accomplishment.

Haven't watched Breaking Bad since the finale aired in 2013 but I definitely want to start up a rewatch now because I don't feel ready to say goodbye to this world and these characters.

That was a perfect finale for this show.

I loved all the callback cameos. My line of thinking when Marie showed up was "Oh hey, it's Marie!" followed by, "I hope this doesn't feel shoehorned in" to, "No, that was perfect" since there was a payoff to her being there in the courtroom scene. Saul's scene with Walt was great too. I was shaking my head at Saul deflecting and not opening up to Walt about any regrets. I thought, "Damn, even in that moment where he was about to have a clean slate, he still refused to confess his guilt about Chuck or Kim or literally anything he's done to a DYING MAN." In an episode full of great scenes, that one really stood out to me. But not as much as those last five minutes or so with Jimmy and Kim. That was just perfection.

Breaking Bad will always be my favorite of the two but I think Better Call Saul is probably the better show by a small margin. It's really hard for me to compare the two because even though they tread similar ground they're two completely different experiences.

And now I'll patiently wait for the complete series Blu-ray set so I can put it on the shelf next to my Breaking Bad complete series set in the replica barrel. :o

I thought someone owned the White house, did they get sick of fans or something and sell it...?
