I've just moved to a small town that's very bike-friendly and has an excellent public transportation system. Naturally, I decided to take advantage, so I got a bike!

It's been a while since I've been on a bike, but the burn you feel is nothing like running. It was such a different sensation after such a long time of non-bike-riding. :wow: I wanna try to get into it, though...it's about a 30 to 45 minute ride to campus, and I want to definitely take advantage.

So, this thread is for bicyclists, or even just casual bike riders. Likes, dislikes, brands, accessories, whatever.

I don't expect this thread to do anything or go anywhere (none of mine ever do), but what the hell, right?

I have a Schwinn and an Iron Horse. Oddly enough my sister has the exact same Schwinn, some color model and year, we rarely talk.

I need to get a hitch and a rack for my Jeep and I'll get on the trails again. I've also been meaning to take advantage of my local REI's bike classes for maintenance and such. I use to ride a lot.

I always used to ride those little off-road bikes...had a pseudo BMX at one point, but I got way too big for it eventually. I think it was a Diamondback.

Now I'm riding a hand-me-down mountain bike re-equipped for road use, heh. Goooood times. There's a nice little bike shop nearby, though. Might have to check it out.

phhht! Try riding in heavy traffic while deaf :ninja:
Pffft. I'm not allowed to wear headphones while riding a bicycle, but they let deaf people ride in traffic? :cmad:

Screw equal rights!! :down

I might get me a new bike. The one I have no is missing the key for my lock, so I have the lock stuck around it, plus it's gone a small bit rusty and the breaks are not too great. I was going down and hill a few weeks back and the brakes stopped working:dry:

Time to bike it up for college tomorrow.

I seele riding around with headphones the whole time. I wouldn't like to wear them though. No sounds=bad

Mine are both hybrids.

I use to have little BMX deal, I can't remember where that thing came from or what happen to it. Those were my deadhead days.

They have like singles ride events. I can only imagine how awkward that would be. Women withe skimpiest and tightest clothes, guys with no shirts on.....wait a minute...sign me up!

My town is extremely hilly. Riding a bike here is an agony that I don't want to put myself through.

Thanks for telling me you changed your name.
So, anyways. The weather is getting better, longer days and all that. Anyone planning on doing any bike trails? I still need to get some maintenance done on my bikes.

Has anyone done any overnight bike trails, camping....you know the whole shebang?

deaf people are not distracted listening to music while biking :oldrazz:

I love bike rides. It's about that time of year again.:word:

Well my incentive to get the bike out is clearly here. *ahem, gas* I pumped air into the tires, which wore me out. It's a nice little ride to the Metro station but the hill to my street was murder on the way back, granny gear all the way. I did discover that I need new tires for both bikes.

Apparently my city is looking for volunteers for their bike shop but no one has called me back about it. :csad:

I am dying to get a bike, but since I live in a small apartment in the not-so-nice part of NY, my mom won't let me because there's no space to keep it and I can't tie or chain it outside because someone might steal it. I really like riding bikes even though I haven't done it as much as when I was younger. :(

Yeah; I'm working on getting a house that's closer to campus so I actually CAN ride my bike to school. It just doesn't work from my current location, lol. I was a bit over-ambitious.

I ride a Trek road bike.

I tried riding to work, but the traffic was extremely heavy, and the lack of even a shoulder to ride on at big stretches made the 6 miles saved not worth the hassle and potential danger. Maybe when I move next year, I'll be in a better position to ride to work.

I like biking a lot, try to get out at least once a week along the lakefront path in Chicago. Gonna definitely need to get out once a week for the crosstraining part of marathon training this summer, plus the "scenery" is always nice on the beach during weekends.

This thread reminded me I just left my bike in the rain last night:cmad:
