This might be a little late but I recently finished BKV's Doctor Strange: the Oath and absolutely loved it. Vaughn outdid himself so well that I cheered out loud and clapped at that last page.

[BLACKOUT]They really might be on to something with this romance between Night Nurse and Dr. Strange. Hell, there's a series right there.[/BLACKOUT]

If the animated movie that's coming is HALF as good as this mini we're in for quite a treat.

It won't be.

But yes I loved it, THIS is the Dr. Strange I want to read. He's far too often used as a Deus Ex Machina to get out of a crossover they've written into a corner, and he's portrayed as so aloof and boring.

This guy was witty, badass, mystic, romantic, conflicted. He was HUMAN, something a lot of other writers (COUGHbendisCOUGHjmsCOUGH) seem to forget. BKV needs to write a ongoing Strange series like this. It would be on my pull list. And also I love the artist. Such a rad retro feel he's got going on. Get him more work, PLEASE.

And also I love Night Nurse + Strange. It's strangely (no pun intended) such a good coupling.

My favorite mini/limited series of 2006-2007 so far.

Agreed.

I liked how he reminded you of how badass Steven and Wong are...at their weakest moments. Brilliant piece of storytelling. More of the same would be awesome.

I also agree about the art. It wasn't bad at the beginning but he got better while doing it. The retro feel was indeed quite hip and I think that's how Dr. Strange should be. Kinda hip, kinda cool, all powerful, bad a$$, mofo...

I absolutely loved this mini. The art was splendid and BKV really knew how to write Strange.

Ditto. This was very nearly the model of a perfect mini-series for me, and I'm not even much of a Dr. Strange fan.

The Night Nurse/Strange romance is great, too. Strange has become way too cold and detached in the last several years, so the fact that he's in a relationship now is a great tool for humanizing him again. I can only hope Bendis will pick up on that thread, beat the odds, and do something good with it, even though I won't be reading it. It sucks that Yu has already abandoned Martin's brilliant modernization of Strange's costume, though. :(
