The Black Dahlia Murder Mystery
Elizabeth "Bette" Short, also popularly known as the Black Dahlia, was found dead in the Lemiert Park district of Los Angeles on January 15, 1947. Her death and subsequent murder investigation would transfix the population of Los Angeles as her tragic, gory end would serve as a symbol of the darker side of Hollywood and innocence lost. To this day, the Black Dahlia's murder has never been solved. However, one detective and one reporter say that they may be one step closer to finding her killer

Wait i thought this case had been solved? I saw a special on the discovery channel a few months ago where one of the cops investigating the murder, had found out his dead father, who was a doctor, was the killer....?

I think he was the mostly likely suspect, lived on the same street and all,but I guess he was never convicted. *shrugs*

Yeah, because he was dead. But i heard they found some pretty incriminating evidence against him....

Oops, well I clearly missed that part.
It didn't have my full attention.

I thought AMW ended a long time ago.

What station does it come on now?

FOX
They had the George Reeves story on there as well.

Strange. Any leads there were are probably pretty damn cold by now.

Nope. You should actually read the book. The cop is WAY OFF BASE. He shows a photo from his dad's personal affects that he claims is Elizabeth Short. Simply to look at the photo at a glance, it's clear that it's not her. But on 48 Hours they went the extra mile and hired photo analysts to study the picture and shots of Beth Short and they agreed it wasn't her. While it's certainly possible, there's nothing conclusive that suggests the cop's dad even knew Beth Short.

I've read alot about this case, and there's a book titled "Severed" that gives about the most likely suspect.

I Don't Think Plugging Movies Is What Amw Is Or Should Be About

In this case I think it was warranted. The movie doesn't give any kind of accurate portrayal of the case. In fact it's insulting that they'd make the film exploiting this girl's brutal murder and not even do her life justice.

Granted, the real problem is that James Ellroy made a fiction of her case in his novel. He should have simply used a fictitious character instead of Beth Short.
