Jett over at the BOF forums has heard some scuttlebutt that the 'Eastern European Heavy' is, in fact Roman Sionas (The Black Mask), and the 'Asian Accountant' could be a nod to the 'Under the Hood' storyline in which Black Mask had an asian assistant.

Looks like more than the Joker and gangsters in this film.

I gotta use the dreaded C word - casting.

Hmm, an older european actor to play the darker side of Bruce Wayne / Batman?

(i.e. An older Christian Bale, and someone who could have played Batman 5 - 10 years ago?)

Obvious No.1 WB / fan choice - Jude Law (too effeminate, possibly)

2nd Obvious choice - Sean Bean(too on the nose, typical bad guy?)

Another name from The Daparted and Blood Diamond.

Eastern European is not British or American guys.

Therefore Law, Bean and DiCaprio(if that's who Two-Face was insinuating) are......

Leonardo DiCaprio?

The casting for the role is aiming for someone in their 40s, and I doubt they'd lower it for Leo. Mind you, what IF the casting went a little older than 40's and cast someone else from 'The Departed' who was once a Batman candidate? Alec Baldwin.

(As for the Eastern European thing, Hollywood does NOT appear to cast parts from those areas, like the Australian Victor Von Doom, or the Irish Ducard. If you look at Nolan's track record, it's more likely a british or american actor will be cast than an eastern european...)

he might be young but oh well

wentworth miller :o

I was going to say Wahlberg...because the way Nolan works is there'll be someone rumored for Dent and then they'll get another part....

I think there may be some misleading things here....

1. I think Eckhart is a lock for dent....he looks too much like the part and can act well...

2. Try to go through the names of previously rumored actors for Dent and see which ones have a good shot at playing Black Mask....

but then again, Black Mask is supposed to be around 10 years older than dent or Batman...

Jamie Foxx is about 40...but he just wouldn't fit at all...Wahlberg might be able to do this as he's about 40...heck, either of these guys are likely over 40...(ps: I didn't do my homework and look them up)...Ed Norton has the age part but couldn't look the part...

blah my brain stopped....I'm done..

If he's going to be older, Bill Nighy.

Middle-Aged, Sean Bean.

Thirties, Peter Sarsgaard.

Twenties, Matthew Goode.

I have spoken.

Bill Nighy?

Oh god you guys crack me up :yay:

Probably a no name... no need for a big star here

That's the guy I was talking about. If Nolan goes with Eastern European type of a guy then yeah Leonardo Dicaprio is out.

Who called this?? Huh?? Who was it??

Why it was little ol' me. :D

Anywho, if they are looking to cast someone in their 40s for Sionis I think Clive Owen could work like crazy in the part. Thats just me.

I don't know if he'd take it though it depends on how big the role is. I wouldn't think its TOO big since The Joker is the main villain.

Killyouguy suggested Michael Imperioli in other thread. He'd be an awesome Sionis but really I don't care what role he plays, the guy just needs to be in a Batman film yeah?

two sionis threads HR

I'll go with Sean Bean. He's not actually Eastern European, but he could easily pass for it and he's in the right age slot. I would love to see him in a Nolan film too.

he is outstanding in the sopranos(sp?)i would really like him

And this is a good thing...because Joker and gangsters has been done already. I hope you werent expecting it again.

Sionis FTW. Now I just hope we get Sal Maroni.

I can go with Joker, Sionis and Maroni..............a very nice follow up to Ra's, Crane and Falcone.

I also think Dougray Scott would fit in. He was the villain in MI-2 and was the original actor for Wolverine but MI-2 held him up so they called on Hugh Jackman.
