I figured a good thread to hear responses from folks outside the US or the UK.

Like if you're in Spain or Peru or Thailand or Lebanon, what are people saying about the film. Is it registering beyond a "superhero film" like it is in the US?

Great idea Kev. I'm curious to see how it's being marketed and what the general buzz is like. I'm curious to hear from Australians. Is there an Aboriginal presence that has the same buzz as African Americans or is the countries too far apart to be relatable?

Also if there's any Chinese or Indians out there I'm also curious to hear what the public general impression are of the film too.

I saw it in a working class neighbourhood here in Australia. Not a lot of indigenous people here but a few African students who I could tell adored it. Lots of white working class people too so that dispels a myth that the enemy of diversity is working class people.

I've never seen crowds so big here honestly since Harry Potter!

anyone else seen this film abroad? Care to share your feelings or audience reactions or how the promotion has been like ?

That's very encouraging.

In the theatre here where I saw it, about half the audience was Koreans. They loved the part where Nakia is speaking Korean in the night market.

In Finland it has surprisingly gotten slightly more negative reviews than usual. Some critics don't find Black Panther as a character very exciting or the movie entertaining. Tweets have been good though.

Not sure this counts as it's the African press tour and no surprise it's taken the continent by storm.

Here in India, it got the highest weekend for a superhero origin movie. Went to watch it thrice and it was packed all 3 times, even during a weekday night. Audience response is great and many people I know have already gone or are about to go for repeat viewings.

I am an American contractor in Saudi Arabia. Many locals go to Bahrain to watch movies and I have heard the turn out has been "huge" considering it was an edited version. I think if they had theaters here in SA, it would've been a record breaker.

Note: I haven't seen it yet. I am waiting to watch it back home in the states in 2 weeks with my wife.

Niceeee

Wow you've got alot of patience. I could not imagine waiting a month after release to watch this. I've seen it twice already. :woot:

I didn't ask, but they usually censor any profanity, PDA, smoking and plot themes dealing with religion, God, any deities, etc.

Okay then I am wondering if you would hear multiple characters drop a "S word" bomb? See a little princess throw the American style finger? Or see a king kiss his ex girlfriend?

The visits to see the dead elders
after receiving the Black Panther herb
I am reasonably sure given your stated criteria in Arabia was cut.

anyone in Eastern Europe or South America? I wanna know how it's doing there

or if it's broken records across Africa?

hmm..probably not....lol
And another note: Most of the movies don't come straight from the studios already edited. It's like they get some third party company to do the editing, so the "quality" isn't really up to par. Lot's of cuts and confusing gaps in the story lines.

the more you know

In Norway it's gotten the usual Marvel reviews (4 or 5 out of 6 stars), had a bigger opening than Civil war and is looking to outperform or equal all Marvel movies except the Avengers movies.

Wow South Asian audience's are awesome :woot:

Don't believe Hollywoods lies about black leads and international audiences.

Can you imagine if they did a Kamala Kahn movie? It could have the same cultural impact as Black Panther.
