Run Zorah Run!! BLADE RUNNER Reshoots Famous Street Gundown!!

Merrick here…
…with a supercool bit of news that should get Geeks going.
For a long while, we’ve been hearing about the forthcoming mega DVD of BLADE RUNNER. We’ve heard all kindsa stories about what material the set would contain (like multiple versions of the film, including a new edit that addresses continuity gaffs, FX inconsistencies, etc.) But, we hadn’t heard much about just how extensive this undertaking might be.
Now we have a sense…
Joanna Cassidy (who played Replicant Zhora in the film – she’s the one Harrison Ford runs down on the street & shoots in the back) has just finished shooting new material for the forthcoming DVD restoration!
Joanna has just finished re-shooting her scenes from the original BLADE RUNNER movie. Joanna is wearing her original outfit (which she kept over from the first production). These new scenes will be part of the upcoming special BLADE RUNNER DVD re-release. Check back for more details.
…says HER OFFICIAL WEBSITE. You can glean a few more details HERE.
Wonder if other scenes will be similarly adjusted/re-approached for the DVD set? It’s a safe bet wire removal (that Police Spinner lifting off from the street in the beginning of the film) and smoothing out the blending of some matte paintings are on the agenda.
If you know more about what’s happening with this, please DROP ME A LINE!!!

CHECK OUT THIS OFT-REFERENCED BUT RARELY SEEN DELETED SEQUENCE IN WHICH DECKARD VISITS HOLDEN (THE GUY WHO GETS SHOT IN THE OPENING SCENE) IN THE HOSPITAL!!!

By the way, if you’ve never seen a British documentary called ON THE EDGE OF BLADE RUNNER, it’s highly recommended. If I recall correctly (and I may not be right about this), this is the piece in the filmmakers first revealed whether or not Deckard is a Replicant. It’s a remarkably honest & insightful look at the making of the film. Here it is for your viewing pleasure…via the peculiar wonder of YouTube!

Just read that on Ain't it Cool as well. I remember them saying the DVD would be out by April, but I guess it looks like it's gonna be sometime later this year. Disappointing, but at least we're still getting it. I've been waiting for this for years.

I also find it funny that yet another of Harrison Ford's scenes where he shoots someone is being altered. :)

Cool!! i have been waiting so long for this come out on the mega special Uber edition dvd :D Cant wait

I'll be waiting for this, right along with the special 10th anniversary edition of Face/Off.

I don't know why people are making a fuss of this, especially when the original theatrical and original director's cut are going to be included along with the brand-new cut. It's interesting, to say the least.

Kickass, i can't hardly wait! i have the director's cut on DVD and the original version on DVD-R, i can't wait to replace them with the uber edition.

Actually, I've never seen it.

Ridley's doing reshoots.

Can't wait to pick this set up!

A while back we heard that Warner Bros. was planning a long overdue super-special edition of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner -- and it was news that had the hardcore sci-fi fanatics drooling in anticipation. Now we get word from DavisDVD.com regarding the complete specs on that package. Fair warning, though, before you get all excited: The contents listed below represent what will be on the Australian-release DVD set, although it's assumed that the American version will be pretty much identical. Here's what we've got:

Disc 1 -- The Final Cut -- Ridley Scott's "definitive" version of the film, complete with new footage, extended scenes and upgraded special effects.

Disc 2 -- Older Versions -- Here you'll find the 1982 theatrical cut, the 1982 international cut and the 1992 director's cut, which is most likely what's in your DVD collection right now.

Disc 3 -- Dangerous Days: The Making of Blade Runner -- A brand-new, feature-length documentary that looks to be the "definitive" piece on the film. Cast and crew, critics and colleagues will share their thoughts on the production, the film and the long-lasting impact of Blade Runner.

Disc 4 -- Enhanced Bonus Content -- A whole disc full of featurettes that will focus on six distinct areas: Inception, Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production, Release, Legacy

Disc 5 -- Work Print -- A rough-cut version of the film, plus a 52-minute BBC documentary that's generally considered one of the coolest looks at the film.

Plus the thing will come in a really slick silver briefcase (!) that houses a lenticular mini-poster, a collectible "model spinner," an origami unicorn, a bunch of photos and a letter from Sir Ridley Scott himself. Wow. We don't have a release date locked in yet, but September seems to be the month. Can't wait.

Wow, those specs sound ungodly awesome. Unfortunately, that's probably only for Austrailia--the US never gets cool s**t like that. :csad:

Getting the 4-disc personally

When is this due out?

They sold me on all the extras. That 5-disc version is mine.

One of the reasons I never bought the director's cut is because I grew up watching the theatrical version with Ford's voice-over. I heard the DC removed that and wasn't sure how I'd like it.

Anyway, yeah this looks awesome.

sorry if off-topic. but has anyone seen any Blade Runner stuff at comic-con besides the panels? im guessing if there's anything, it should at WB right?

December 18th

I'm going for the briefcase edition :D

I was hoping for earlier :csad:

Oh well...just gotta tell people not to get me this for Christmas (I am getting this first day it is out)
