Blade Runner has been named the best sci-fi movie of all time in a new online poll.

The futuristic film, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer, tops a list compiled by editors at Moviefone.com - beating all the Star Wars, Alien, and Terminator movies hands down.

Moviefone editors explain their choice, "A box office dud at the time of its release, this movie has undergone more facelifts than Joan Rivers. Regardless, it's a dark future with film noir elements dripping from every pore."

The poll also throws down the gauntlet for movie makers to create a new contender - none of the top 25 was made in the 21st Century.

The top ten is as follows:

  • Blade Runner, 1982
  • Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980
  • Aliens, 1986
  • Star Wars: A New Hope, 1977
  • The Day the Earth Stood Still, 1951
  • The Matrix, 1999
  • Terminator 2, Judgement Day[/b], 1991
  • The Thing, 1982
  • Alien, 1979
  • Forbidden Planet, 1956.

Sunshine isn't on that list. Moviefone fails.

Plus, 2001 should be a lot higher..

Haven't seen Sunshine yet--no ones spoils it :hehe:

The sun is in it.

Click it. I know you want to.

Ha! Didn't do it :o

Sunshine isn't on that list.
And deservedly so. After all the hype that film got, I was greatly underwhelmed. It doesn't even come close to any of the aforementioned sci-fi classics.

It's a top 25 list. There's room for one of the best recent attempts at a sci-fi classic. :o

The "Final Cut" is the best one.

Does the final cut have a voice over..?

No. Only the theatrical version has Deckard's voice over.

Then I might check it out soon.

As for me, Blade Runner may not be the best, but certainly one of the better sci-fi films of the last century.

Blade Runner better then Empire,2001,and Aliens? yeah right

Good list though. All ten of those are deserving the Top 10 status.

Glad to see John Carpenter's The Thing on there. I was Macready for Halloween. :D

Don't know if the order of that list is right. But those ten movies are correct.

:thing: :thing: :thing:

A good Sci-Fi movie only comes along now and again. There are alot of bad sci-fi movies. Not many people get them right.
