Blaster Master Zero version 1.2 update launches May 3, adds Destroyer Mode and EX Character Mode
Published 5 hours ago. 1 comment.

Play as Gunvolt and Ekoro.

Blaster-Master-Zero-Ver-1-2-Update-May-3-600x338.jpg

The first major update for Blaster Master Zero will launch for Switch on May 3 and for 3DS on May 4, developer Inti Creates announced.
The version 1.2 update adds the following new content:
■ Destroyer Mode
A super difficult “hard mode” that you can access after clearing the game.
Here’s are a few examples of the differences in Destroyer Mode:

    • The Energy Guard item has absolutely no effect in Destroyer Mode. If you want to keep your Gun Level up, you’ll need to make sure you maneuver very carefully.
    • Life Up items also have no effect. Get ready for even tougher boss fights!
    • The strongest weapon in Normal Mode, Wave (Gun Level 8), won’t work against some enemies. You have to choose the pertinent gun level for each enemy or else you won’t deal any damage.
    • When an enemy is destroyed on side view maps, it unleashed bullets that fly in the player’s direction. Careless attacks can prove to be quite costly!
    • In Destroyer Mode, Jason and SOPHIA III also receive a little color makeover.

Destroyer Mode calls for you to make the right call at every turn and make use of your entire arsenal if you want to have a chance at defeating the game’s powered up mutants. It provides a whole new type of challenge for those who have completed the game once before, so be sure to give it a try!

■ EX Character Mode

Version 1.2 also comes with EX Character Mode, which allows you to play through the entire game as one of many brand new downloadable content characters that will be available. These characters aren’t just skins, though! They have their own set of abilities and weapons that create a gameplay experience completely different from that of the main protagonist, Jason.

Every time a new character gets released for EX Character Mode, you will be able to download that charage for FREE for a two week period following the release of the character. It’s the perfect chance to experience the game in a whole new way with beloved characters from a wide range of IPs.

EX Character: Gunvolt from Azure Striker Gunvolt
Launches May 4 for free until May 17, before price changes to $1.99 / €1.99.
The main protagonist from the Azure Striker Gunvolt series strikes into the fray as a playable character! With Gunvolt’s septimal power of electricity, take control of his “Flashfield” and “Prevasion” abilities and give those mutant baddies the shock of a lifetime!

EX Character: Ekoro from Gal Gun
Launches June 1 for free until June 14, before price changes to $1.99 / €1.99.
The “elite” angel you remember from Mighty Gunvolt and the Gal Gun series returns as a playable character! Take control of her chargeable, dual-wielding “Desert Angel” guns and other angelic weaponry and give those mutants a taste of your love!

A Blaster Master Zero demo will also be released on May 3. It features two stages: The Forest Area (Area 1) where your subterranean adventure begins; and the Industrial Area (Area 3), a factory where the Central Gear boss rules over and large shutters and conveyor belts block the way.

Watch a trailer for the version 1.2 update below.

Blaster Master Zero released its Ver. 1.2 update recently, and with it comes two new game modes including one that lets you play as a cast of DLC characters, featuring the likes of Gunvolt and Ekoro. Inti Creates shares a look at what’s new on the company’s official website.

The first new mode is “Destroyer Mode,” a super difficult hard mode that you’ll have access to after beating the game. This mode requires you to make the right call at every turn and also the right use of your entire arsenal needed to take on the powered-up mutants.

In addition to a color makeover for Jason and SOPHIA III, we can see that the strongest weapon in Normal Mode, Wave (Gun Level 8), doesn’t work against these enemies. You’ll have to choose the pertinent gun level for each enemy or else you won’t deal any damage here.

Enemies destroyed on side-view maps unleash bullets that fly in the player’s direction. The Energy Guard item also has no effect in Destroyer Mode.

And if that doesn’t sound challenging enough, Life Up items have no effect in this mode. Types of items that are placed throughout each area and items obtained from mid-bosses have also been changed up.

Next, here’s a look at the “EX Character Mode” that also arrived in Version 1.2. This mode allows you to play through the entire game as a DLC character. These characters aren’t just skins, as they have their own set of abilities and weapons, providing a completely different gameplay experience.

EX Character – Gunvolt
Release Date: May 4, 2017
Price: $1.99 (free from May 5 through May 17, 2017)

And finally, Inti Creates shared a bit on the new demo version:

In the demo version of Blaster Master Zero, you’ll get to choose between two stages: The Forest Area (Area 1) where your subterranean adventure begins, and the Industrial Area (Area 3) a factory where the Central Gear boss reigns supreme. The Nintendo Switch version of the demo has local multiplayer.

Blaster Master Zero’s Ver. 1.2 update is available for Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo 3DS version of the game updates today. The demo as well as the Gunvolt DLC also releases today for Nintendo Switch and 3DS.

Blaster Master Zero II announced for Switch, available now
Published 2 days ago. 23 comments.

The sequel to the 2017-released side-scrolling / top-down hybrid action game.
Blaster-Master-Zero-II_03-20-19.jpg

Inti Creates and Sunsoft have announced Blaster Master Zero II for Switch. It is available now via the Nintendo eShop for $9.99.

Here is an overview of the game, via Nintendo.com:

About

Mutant blasting action is back! Join Jason, Eve, and Fred on an intergalactic journey!

The side-scrolling / top-down hybrid action adventure gameplay returns with a brand new sequel to Blaster Master Zero!

Experience the yet-untold story of Jason and Eve after defeating Earth’s mutant scourge as they venture into the depths of space in their new battle tank, “GAIA-SOPHIA!”

The story of Blaster Master Zero II begins a few months after the events of the first game (released on March 9, 2017), where the main protagonist Jason saves planet Earth from the mutants. Eve has been infected by mutant cells that are slowly corrupting her body, so together with Jason and Fred, they board G-SOPHIA and begin an intergalactic journey to Eve’s home planet, Sophia, in hopes of finding a cure for the mutant infection.

A perfect blend of action-adventure through outer space and the signature Blaster Master gameplay creates a formula for a fun new experience.

Key Features

  • G-SOPHIA’s Gaea System is the key to maximum mutant blasting efficiency! The Gaea System converts the energy created by the impact of falling from tall heights or taking damage, then turns that energy into SP. By making good use of the terrain, more and more SP can be recovered, allowing Jason to use more of G-SOPHIA’s sub-weapons. Mastering the Gaia System brings out G-SOPHIA’s full potential, allowing players to traverse stages in an ultra-satisfying way.
  • Get familiar with Jason’s new technique, the BLAST COUNTER.Jason’s got a new trick up his sleeve! In top-down view stages, Jason can initiate a BLAST COUNTER at the moment an enemy makes an attack, allowing him to deliver a powerful counterattack. Getting a feel for BLAST COUNTERS allows you to dish out lots of damage and make good use of your wide variety of gun levels and sub-weapons. This is the key to clearing top-down view stages with speed!
  • Power up G-SOPHIA and Jason as you travel across the galaxy!Search high and low across the planets you visit to find hidden maps for small planetoids in their orbit. Explore a wide variety of planetoids and find upgrades for G-SOPHIA and Jason.
  • A whole new group of Metal Attackers with their own pilots and support droids takes the stage! Throughout his journey, Jason crosses paths with a motley cast of Metal Attacker battle-tank pilots and their respective support droids. Sometimes they’re friend, sometimes they’re foe.
