BLM Protests Across The World

So current cops can reapply for whatever new force replaces current departments?

I just want to say that the Congressional Black Caucus handed those out to the congress people. So, a little uncomfortable labeling it as completely pandering.
Fine, I apologize... but only a little.

Yes. But that would not mean they are rehired, and in theory it would be under different oversight rules and such. I am not positive, but I think it kind of works as an end around to police unions, their contracts, and other such issues.

Yup. It's a little problematic---dare I say racist--- to say the Congressional Black Caucus is pandering about black people.

I don't think it was a great idea, but I don't exactly get a vote in the matter.

But I do!

All joking aside, I don't really care who passed them out, it's a bad. Beyond the fact that they literally did their version of a Trump photo-op, it plays into some really odd ideas of what it means to be black in the US.

How the **** does he still have bail? He should have been sentenced to prisión in his court appearance today . No need for a lengthy trial

As for Floyd apparently trying to pass a counterfeit $20......we have a cop on speed dial at our store who will show up literally within a few minutes of us calling him, and we have never called him because someone handed us an iffy $20.

Because we don’t know if the customer even knows it’s a bad $20. They could have gotten it from anywhere, from getting cash back at another store where the cashier got it from another customer or whatever.

My manager advises the person in that situation to take it to their bank to get double checked and see if they’ll let them swap it for a legit $20.
Over the years I have been at a few places of work where a counterfeit has shown up (everything from a $100 bill to a $10 bill of all things) though never through me as far as I know but we don't call the police and try getting anyone arrested precisely because you do not know how long or where that fake bill started circulating.

Innocent people and businesses get used all the time to pass fakes.

My worry with the statue thing is that it's only a matter of time before people get hurt or worse while removing one
The woman who tried to set fire to the flag at the cenotaph was dumb and reckless.

NRA is going to love this. Sales of firearms will go up again because people will think they have to defend themselves if there’s no police.
A frightened reactive population is pretty much their aim. Much easier to sell guns.
Hackers have been up in this so I'm pretty sure they will hack and expose who fronted cash for chauvin if they can.

There is no excuse for such actions.

And again, once again, a premeditated action. Done solely as to intimidate press and protesters.

Can anyone truly justify this? Is this serving, protecting or any other job police are supposed to be doing? Why is your tax money going to maintain a status quo where police across the country feel that not only should they do these things but that they do so with such brazeness that they are certainly acting as though no repercussions are incoming or even warranted?

Can anyone out there really form a coherent defense of the coast to coast behavior police in America right now? Serious question. It deserves a serious answer.

In other words not derived from some conspiracy theory that posits a secret cabal of Antifa, Communists and George Soros or whatever obviously detached from reality nonsense the Reactionary Brigade is going with at the current hour. For real, even the looting and rioting doesn't excuse the violence and tactics used against those literally just standing around with signs and chanting. It once more puts into stark contrast the response to the Lockdown protest mere weeks ago. Those people were armed with guns and broke in and occupied state houses for periods. Where was the pepper spray then? Where was the tear gas? The rubber bullets? The slashed tires? The 75 year old men slapped to the concrete? The on site journalists getting pummeled or arrested on camera? Where were the reporters getting shot with "less than lethal" ammunition? Where was the spill over into areas far from any looting and rioting where citizens already inside their homes and abiding by curfew have to take cover because the cops in the streets decide to open fire with those "less than lethal" weapons? They didn't seem to feel they all needed to cover their badges a few weeks ago as well.

Facts are no matter how one spins it the majority of protesters have done so peacefully. The violence has come into the equation too often because the police act out of control with no serious provocation to excuse their over the top responses or thuggish intimidation tactics.

As with so much that has transpired in recent history I ask certain types of our fellow Americans why they continue to parrot talking points like "It's just a few bad apples" or "These people need to listen when cops are arresting them" or "Why don't we talk about the good cops instead of focusing on the bad ones?"

I and many others cannot live in those delusions anymore. The mask is off. The evidence mounts daily that we have a major issue with police conduct in America and it isn't isolated to any specific geographical region. Cops are being shown so far as having an across the board ascent to what we are seeing caught on camera time and again.

Is there any answer that doesn't paint a sad and dangerous picture of what law enforcement has been allowed to degenerate to?

I said a while back that slashing the tires of parked cars could be a good way to slow down rioter movement, but it occurred to me that doing so strands people in a situation that could become dangerous. If cops really cared about public safety and dispersing the crowds they wouldn't be stranding people and forcing them to walk.

Now would be a great time to have run flat tires. I'd drive off with my slashed tires giving the cops a **** eating grin.

I saw that. Supposedly it's another James Gunn type situation where he was attempting to be funny with inappropriate jokes. Not having seen the tweets personally, I have no idea how accurate that claim is though.

What I do not understand is how you can first make those offensive jokes, even 8 years ago, second, not think they might come back to bite you in the ass in the future and then third, after seeing so many other people's past tweets come back to haunt them, not delete them before someone comes along and uses them against you.

I guess that settles it, Plastic Man is clearly better.

Simply read the article Marvolo posted to see those tweets
