I like the film itself but more than anything I appreciate it as my gateway into Lynch. Trying to just watch Twin Peaks or attempting Mulholland Drive I really just hit a wall. For some reason this film worked for me and I've since been able to appreciate Lynch's work much more.

It really is the perfect entry level Lynch movie. Lynch may have made Eraserhead first, but I think if that had been my first Lynch movie, I probably would've checked out.
